I posted this before but couldn't find it so please redirect me.

Here is my revised Bond alternate timeline (Part 1/4)

Sean Connery

Dr No (1962) - No Q or reference to Bond's Beretta
From Russia With Love (1963) - Same
Goldfinger (1964) - Directed by Terence Young.
Thunderball (1965) - Trimmed down.

Connery announces that the next Bond film will be his last so an extra year is spent making the film 'extra special'.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1967) - Directed by Terence Young. No refrence to previous Bond films

After the enormous success of OHMSS the Bond producers cannot find anybody good enough to fill Connery's shoes so they leave the Bond series to rest for a few years.

    Roger Moore

Moore is finally free from TV contracts and so producer Albert R Broccoli decides to cast him as the all-new James Bond in LALD.

Live and Let Die (1973) - Kananga gets proper send-off
(Eaten by sharks), Bond watch isn't magnetic

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) - Bigger climax.

Due to more legal battles which Kevin McClory there is a 3-year gap between TMWTGG & TSWLM.

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) - Same

    Moonraker (1979) - Jaws doesn't return & Bond doesn't go to space

For Your Eyes Only (1981) - Cut out Blofeld in the pre-creds & replace with boat blowing up, M's funeral also features, Bond is asked to take over as head but declines. Cut out ending with Margaret Thatcher.

    Dr. No
I would improve the title sequence, Added in Moneypenny and Q

    From Russia With Love
More of a climax at the end of the film made more of Spectre Island

    Goldfinger
    Kept the same

    Thunderball
Removed a few mistakes I notice everytime ect, Goggles changing colour ect.

    You Only Live Twice
    Keep The Same

    On Her Majestys Secret Service
    Made it longer :p

    Diamonds Are Forever
Got another Bond girl, Different Blofield character, Should I even continue It would of been best to not count this as a Bond film, The best part of it for me was the car chase in Vegas, Ended it with Blofeld dying, Another villian would of been good, He outserved his purpose.

    Live And Let Die
Modernised it a little, Kananga's island more protected, Not blown up, Bond shots him professionally.

The Man With The Golden Gun
Keep it to the novel plot more.

    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Made it longer :v

    Moonraker
Removed Jaws Girlfriend, Made Jaws go out with a bang (killed), Made the space station more stronger and set out more, It was like a Coke Can.

    For Your Eyes Only
Removed Blofeld from it, Different Bond girl.

    Octopussy
Made more out of Octopussy, No circus in it or clowns, Roger should of left then.

    A View To A Kill
Made Zorin more evil and 'bent', Different Bond actor, Roger Was getting too old.

    The Living Daylights
    More of Kara (D'Abo) ;)

    The Licence To Kill
Used a different Bond girl for it, Made Sanchez more powerful and violent.

    Goldeneye
More Russian envolement, Different Bond girl (her voice goes right through me), It is the only thing that keeps me from watching the film.

    Tomorrow Never Dies
Made Carver more villianous, All he wanted was a good news story ;)

    The World Is Not Enough
Ill come back this one, My mine has gone blank :help:

    Die Another Day
Completely less cheesy - Remade all of it

    Casino Royale
Shown more of Le Chiffre's background

I will go over them again soon, Once I remember more.

BTW, you need to watch DN again as Miss Moneypenny & Q were in it (Although Q was played by another actor who's name escapes me at this moment although I thonk it was a Peter)

Opps, LOL, I knew that ;) I havent seen it for about 1 - 3 months.

Wasn't he called 'Major Boothroyd', Head of weapons, not Q-Branch,
  • Sweepy the CatSweepy the Cat Halifax, West Yorkshire, EnglaPosts: 986MI6 Agent
Q-Branch and Major Boothroyd are the same person. Q stands for Quartermaster, I'm surprised you didn't pick this up whils watching TSWLM (Your favourite Bond Film) when Bond refers to him by this name

I know that, But he isn't 'Q' he is Boothroy a guy who works in Qbranch.

But still it would of been better with 'Q' (desmond) in it instead and kept the gadgets simple ect not to the GF / DAD extreme.

I have spent a lot of time thinking of an alternate timeline for the production of the 007 films that would 1) make more sense as far as continuity and consistency goes 2) give some actors more time or less time and 3) give some actors films more suited to their approach to the character.

I would keep DN, FRWL and GF the same with Sean, but I would have had him do the SPECTRE trilogy from the novels in proper order: TB, OHMSS and YOLT. I have not read these yet but I hear they are great. This helps clear up confusion as to why Blofeld fails to recognize Bond in OHMSS and leaves DAF out of this whole Blofeld story arc. We all agree that OHMSS and DAF as they stand today are not even that closely connected. That gives Sean a solid six film run to start the franchise.

I am very sorry, but for my Bond timeline to be perfect, there will be no George Lazenby ever as 007. Even having him in OHMSS and having Sean return for YOLT would not help the continuity. Lazenby was a good Bond but he was just not around long enough to make any impact in my timeline.

Sir Rog, although he debuted perfectly with LALD, will debut with DAF in my timeline since his style of playing Bond suits the film more. I would still make it less campy though. Then he does LALD through OP just like they were already done. This is great because he gets another film looking young and ends with a great film, OP, while still not looking too old in a mediocre film like AVTAK. Sir Rog still gets his 7 007 films here.

Timothy Dalton not getting more Bond films is a crime against humanity. Not only will he begin with AVTAK to warm up, he peaks with TLD and LTK as they were while also doing two more films in 1991 and 1993 to play Bond normally again and not so vengeful. Here Timothy gets at least five films because he would have earned them.

I would keep Pierce as he was until of course 2004 when he should have received his fifth film to go out on a high note. I do not even care if it is not CR because that films suits Craig better. Just give Pierce one better than DAD. Even if my timeline makes DAD better he still deserved a fifth film.

I suppose I would keep Danny the way he is. CR, QOS and the two more he is planning on. Of course I would make CR more traditional with a less hypocritical production, but that's beside the point. His last film as 007 in 2012 marks the franchise's 50th birthday. It will be the 27th film as well, not the 24th. 1991, 1993 and 2004 I know all had conflicts and problems behind the scenes that prevented films from being produced, but in my timeline there are no delays!

    To summarize:

Big Sean - DN, FRWL, GF, TB, OHMSS and YOLT.

Sir Roger - DAF, LALD, TMWTGG, TSWLM, MR, FYEO and OP.

Dalton - AVTAK, TLD, LTK, 1991 and 1993 films.

Pierce - GE, TND, TWINE, DAD and a 2004 film.

Craig - CR, QoS, and two more.

    Part 3/4

    Timothy Dalton

Octopussy (1983) - Edward Fox as M & Caroline Bliss as Moneypenny. Trimmed down, less camp.

From A View To A Kill (1985) - Different plot. No California Girls music in pre-creds. Better titles. Bond doesn't sleep with MayDay. Bigger climax. To hell with it, change the whole bloody film :p

    The Living Daylights (1987) - No cello-chase.

Licence Revoked (1989) - Different pre-creds. Less Q. No Moneypenny.

The Bond series is put to rest on a high with LR which sees Bond leave MI6 for good.

After winning the rights to make CR in the early 00's, Albert R Brocooli's step-son, Michael G Wilson decides to make it as the first of a brand-new, rebooted Bond series.

Casino Royale (2007) - New M. Trimmed down.

The Property of a Lady (2008) - Same as QOS.

Risico (2010) - Wraps up the loose ends of CR & TPOAL. Reintroduces Moneypenny and Q.

Colonel Sun (2012) - Based on novel.

2010: A new version of the Bond films is released on blue ray super DVD plus, in wich CGI effects allow viewers to choose wich actor they want to see as Bond.

Fan favorite special feature is from AVTAK, where you have the option to not only switch between Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton, but also between Grace Jones and Mister T. The Bond/May Day bedscene greatly improves. :007)

Interesting alternate history, Sweepy. I admire your courage in giving up poor and middling entries such as YOLT and the Brosnans, but I don't understand your inclusion of TMWTGG.
If it had been up to me, I don't think that in my alternate time-line I'd have had the courage to be so drastic. I have been busy for some time re-writing an alternate history of Bond for the Dalton era. This includes a detailed refurbishing of "From a View to a Kill"; a few minor changes to TLD (stronger villain, different Moneypenny, toned down car-chase); and LTK (just remove the silly truck stunts, and toughen Bond up in the boat scene with Pam Bouvier); and a whole new treatment for Property of a Lady (1991). Will be posting this when the details are finalized. I'd love to know what you think about it (especially the all new FAVTAK).
