    LALD is an excellant novel.
I'm half way through Diamonds Are Forever.

Im reading the whole lot in order. Im halfway through From Russia with love. Diamonds are forever was ace, my fave so far is moonraker.:)

OHMSS. Have read it many times before. It's one of the Best. The Bond Tracy relationship is superb and feels very real. Locations are well captured, you can almost taste the snow & Ice.
Action scenes have a cinematic quality to them, and the character of Bond is by this time fully realised and just before he starts to disintegrate in YOLT & TMWTGG.

Before that have recently re read YOLT. Which for me is the darkest of the novels.

    Devil May Care.

I've gone through a couple of chapters. So far so good. Hopefully the rest of the book will hold up as well.

I'm also reading them in order. I've finished DAF now, was a good read but my least favourite from the first 4 novels. Moonrakers still my favourite, closely followed by LALD.
The start of FRWL (I'm about 30 pages in) is very interesting. No Bond until roughly half way through the novel, according to the introduction.
Also, i never realised Fleming was aiming to kill off Bond in FRWL until it became a commercial success. Very interesting!

I really want to start 'By Royal Command' when I have the time, but I'll slightly apprehensive as I've not read the second half of Double or Die, and none of Hurricane Gold. Are these essential reading before BRC or will it all make sense? :D

It would be good to finish Double or Die because there is a returning character. It's a shame to skip Hurricane Gold, but you can. Just know that Bond goes through HELL in that book.

DN. A whopper of a Bond novel. As much as I like OHMSS/YOLT, there's something almost untouchable about DN. Hits a nerve I guess.

finished hurricane gold. starting devil may care 2nd chapter. i find hurricane gold the weakest among the young bond series. btw magazines are slowly appearing featuring QOS. it's bond media mania time again. =P

I recently finished For Special Services by John Gardner. I've been re-reading the books in order in a somewhat sporadic fashion. FSS was only Gardner's second book. I seem to recall enjoying it the first time I read it, but now I'm not certain why. Other than the the scene with the isolated cabin being overrun with harvester ants, I couldn't really find anything enthralling about the story. I suspect that my first impression of FSS was colored by the fact that I was simply excited to have some new Bond reading material with the arrival of John Gardner's works.

I've read the Fleming novels in order several times . . . Now, I just randomly pick titles to read. Most recently, I finished YOLT . . . excellent. My favorite Bond novel, however, has always been MR! Can't wait to read that one again!

I have read the Fleming novels in order, and would agree OHMSS stands out as a cracking good read.

Currently I am reading the Raymond Benson novels, and am ploughing through Never Dream of Dying.
The action is good the story line is relevent, and the hummor is current.

I just finished listening to the novelization of GoldenEye by John Gardner.

Ive recently just starting reading the Bond novels, unfortunatley not in the proper order as I dont own them all. Ive read Casino Royale, Dr No and I've just started reading Moonraker today, Although only three chapters through it is becoming my favourite so far.

Just finished Devil May Care (I was saving it for my holiday to Crete). I know it's had a bad time from purists, but I enjoyed it nontheless.

I had planned on Moonraker keeping me occupied for a nine hour flight with my dad and mom. (first read ever)

We hadn't even boarded the plane, yet the spine was already falling apart :D

I'm re-reading YOLT at the moment, after previously re-reading CR, OHMSS and DN (in that order, I wanted to mix it up a bit).
I'm currently at Dikko On The Ginza, and tried to get my twin brother to read it as well, but to no avail.
He's more of a movie tie-in novel reader. I tried that with Raymond Benson's Die Another Day, that's enough for me.

Half way through it now. Really suprised at how true the film stayed to the novel during the round of golf. So far (i'm reading them in order) Moonraker remains my favourite.

Lately I've been picking at the continuation novels, in no particular order. Today I have just started reading For Special Services - I found a 1st edition copy in a charity shop a couple of weeks ago. Before that, I read Colonel Sun, which I would have to rank as the best continuation novel I have read so far. I think I have read about 10, mostly Gardner. I find the Benson books very hard to find here in South Africa. Fleming can be found without too much difficulty, Gardner's are found occasionally, but I have yet to see a Benson novel in any 2nd hand bookshops.

Chronologically speaking, GF's next in line. You could do far worse then GF, the canasta cheating, golf game, and torture sequence are addictive and enjoyable. The novel bangs forward with some very enjoyable introspection as well ... :)
