Currently in Live and Let Die. I read about 4 or 5 Bond novels last summer. I enjoyed the latest by Faulks, Devil May Care. I prefer Fleming to all of the others.
A critic of the Bond novels once said that TSWLM was the first novel in which we know a woman has an orgasm. I am re-reading LALD.
I thought TSWLM was fascinating. The poor girl has really bad luck. However, stick with it. The final two chapters goes into the manichean nature of Bond which may be surprising to some.
"And if I told you that I'm from the Ministry of Defence?" James Bond - The Property of a Lady
I'm rereading it actually. my (so far i like it) was sort of my way of saying i'm re associating myself with it. It's been a good decade since I've read it. I'm actually surprised how much I didn't remember. quite frankly, I found the loose lips Bond talking so much for lack of a better term "comrade party secretnos" about his mission and the like was kind of unbelievable. (this time around)
overall, I found it pretty good. Not nearly as bad as I remember as a kid. Refreshing in a way.
I haven't read a Bond novel since Devil May Care came out. I've started reading Gardner's Icebreaker today. So far so good. I'm hoping to tear through it in a couple of days.
High Time to Kill (I recently picked up a hardcover of "The Union Trilogy." I haven't re-read them since they originally came out, so I'm looking forward to it. So far, it's actually much better than I remember.
Done with HTTK, now on to Doubleshot. So far, I preferred High Time, for it's unique locations, and I enjoyed the rivalry sub plot. Still, I am enjoying this read, and i think Benson was under rated. He was certainly no Flemming, but neither is anyone else.
My first post in quite a long time. Just finished Moonraker. I am reading them in order but I didn't get why people said Moonraker was the best because ,so far anyway, the best one for me is Live and Let Die although Casino Royale was splendid.
up to From Russia With Love. My last Fleming Bond novel! Next, I'll move on to other things. Maybe some non-flemng bonds or Sherlock Holmes novels.
"Oh look! Parachutes for the both of us! Whoops, not anymore!"
"You see Mr Bond. You can't kill my dreams. But my dreams can kill you!"
"Time to face destiny."

I've read the complete short stories and very much enjoyed it. The Dying Detective is really great. And I seem to remember reading Hound of the Baskervilles when I was small but I don't remember much about it. I should probably dig up a copy from somewhere.
About halfway through Never Dream of Dying. I am enjoying it, although I find the idea of Bond being involved with a a famous supermodel a bit hard to swallow.
Just got a collection audiobooks of Fleming's work, and I think I was a few chapters into DAF a few years ago, so that's where I'll carry on from, and finally read/listen to them all ! :007)

I failed to tear through it in a couple of days. Didn't even manage to read it in a couple of weeks. I ended up being distracted with other things half way through, but tore through the second half yesterday. Enjoyed it very much... despite being confused at times about who had double crossed Bond and what side everyone was truly on.
Gardner's books always seem to do that. It took me two separate times to finish No Deals, Mr. Bond and countless times for Scorpius, Win Lose or Die, The Man From Barbarossa, and Coldfall.
This is the first time that I have had that with Gardner - and I did think the novel was good. It was more due to other things getting in the way. I tore through No Deals, Mr Bond (my favourite Gardner) and Scorpius. I haven't read the others that you mention yet.
After Scorpius, they just start getting very dull. Never Send Flowers and Seafire pick up somewhat, but I don't know what to think about Coldfall.

Finished my second read through of Ian Flemings Bond novels, enjoyed them emensly and plan to re-read them in the future. At the moment i'm reading two books and rather enjoynig both, Brazilian Adventure by Peter Fleming (Ian Flemings older Brother, and one of the insparations for Bond, and the indiivdual who gave Ian the name moneypenny).
And a another book which i highly recommend to Literary Bond and Fleming enthousiasts, commisioned by the Ian Fleming centenary and the royal imperial museaum, full of never before seen pictures and stories of Ian and bond movie props released by his family and the museum, it is very informative on Bond himself as a character and very enjoyable, titled For your Eyes only: Fleming + James Bond. If you see it i recomend that you get your hands on its really good.
Plan to soon start for the first time Colonal Sun (1st edition) been looking forward to it, heard allot of good things.

just finished From Russia, With Love last night
on to Dr. No
on to Thunderball
on to The Spy Who Loved Me
and so far I like it. Though it's a little disconcerting to imagine a man writing from the point of view of a woman
