Songwriters Thread

No, this is not a shameless self promotion.
I was wondering if any members here write songs?

I myself am a songwriter. So far I have written 75 songs. I play guitar and sing. My voice is my weakest area so please don't laugh when you hear it lol. My guitar work and songwriting skills hopefully make up for the voice...

Hell, here's the link:

My songs mean everything to me and writing and recording is my number 1 hobby. :D

Would be cool if other users let me know what they thought to my stuff.

Oh and another thing for you Bond fans, if you scroll down to the bottom of the REVERBNATION player you can hear my cover version of the James Bond theme. I made a separate thread about that quite some time ago so some of you have already heard that.

I feel this belongs in off-topic rather than Bond music, as it's just about music and songwriting.

All in all, I think it'd be great if other songwriters here shared their music and links to their stuff. This thread could be the community for all songwriters at AJB.

I like your stuff, Jarvio, arrangements/lyrics/etc. Your vocals sound fine to me. Keep it up!

I tested Predator's signature link claim. And it's correct. My saturday hangover feels much better now :D ;)

Barbel, I'd love to catch a gig someday. But knowing my homeboy tendencies ...

I don't know how to set up links, but PM me an address (doesn't have to be your own, just one you can get mail at) and I'll send you a CD or two.

Barbel and Predator, I haven't had a chance to listen yet because I've just moved into a student house today for my second year of uni - and this wireless connection seems really slow... but i will listen asap and let you know what I think. Looking forward to listening

Recently the local council sponsored the recording of a compilation album called "Identity". We were one of the bands appearing on it, and were told when to report to a local recording studio with an original song ready to record.

We selected a number called "Dig" (I posted a live version of it under "My Music" a while back), which was written about traffic jams on motorways, and the plastic cones cordoning off lanes for miles at a stretch. It's been in our set for a while, and presented us with no problems during the recording.

We were a bit taken aback when the producer asked us towards the end of the session what the song's connection was with slavery- apparently, that was to be the connecting thread throughout the album (which was itself part of a multimedia project). Some quick thinking led us to claim that it was about navvies digging the roads, which was believed... fortunately! No-one had thought to tell us about this, but luckily the song just scraped by the criterion used.

Basically, the message is to keep your ears open for opportunities to record at someone else's expense; be heard; publicise; get out there and play. At least 90% of the effort will be wasted, I can guarentee that- but it's the only way to go.
