Comeback On The Cards For Flirty Miss Moneypenny
Miss Moneypenny, a constant presence in the life of 007 until she was mysteriously axed from the most recent Bond film, is set for a comeback, writes Chris Hastings.

Barbara Broccoli and coproducer Michael G Wilson said the character, played 14 times by Lois Maxwell, inset, starting with Dr No in 1962, will return in future films.

She was removed from the plot of Casino Royale, despite there being a reference to her in the original Ian Fleming novel, to the annoyance of fans who enjoy the character’s flirtatious relationship with Bond.

Miss Broccoli said: "She is not in Quantum of Solace. But she is a great character and much loved, and she will come back at some point. But it will have to be under the right circumstances. We didn’t want to shove her in for the sake of it and without a reason. She is important and she will come back."
She's worth whatever chaos she brings to the table and you know it. ~ Mark Anthony

Why the producers went with Villiers in lieu of Moneypenny, only to axe him after one film I'll never understand. :s

Great news, if true. I'd ask for Q back as well, but that might be pushing it. Given the current damage dealt to the Precious Classic Formula, it may have to be restored one piece at a time.

Chalk one up for the CBTs! {[]

I think you're right, Mr. Hee. Eon seems to have a long range strategery... :v

I don't think anything's 'gone for good.' With a series history as rich as this one, Eon can afford to pick and choose. When we see Miss Moneypenny, it will mean something...and that's a good thing {[]

    Great news if it's true!

Not sure if Samantha Bond will continue to play the role or if she will "fizzle out" and be replaced?

No-one can ever beat the original and best Lois Maxwell!

Heartily seconded. I don't think Samantha Bond will be back, though- unless they take up that idea Lois Maxwell had back in the 80s...

It would be nice to have Miss Moneypenny back - as long as the script needs her, not just for the sake of including her. I can't see Samanatha Bond returning to the role either.

I actually liked Villiers (and he also looks spookingly like my sister's fiance ...), but I also would like Moneypenny back.
I would like to see Villiers getting killed before he manages to give M some vital piece of info. his replacemen is of course Honeysuckle Weeks playing Ms Moneypenny.
You get villiers back AND important circumstances for Moneypenny to come back.

When I first saw OP, I could've sworn that was going to be Moneypenny's last appearance, and Penelope Smallbone would then serve as M's secretary. (Actually, why did they even introduce that character in the first place?)

    That's a welcomed return.

Characters like Moneypenny and Q need to be re-introduced properly. I thought I'd miss them in CR, but I didn't because I recognised they wouldn't have fitted in smoothly. In DAD I got the impression the script was written around them and it felt poor as a result.
Both deserve better, and to be introduced when they will be needed.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I'm fine with elements of the formula being "earned" piece by piece such as the 00-status, the vodka martini and how it's handled, the introduction of the name and the orchestral Bond theme. But I have to ask for the sake of causing discussion. If there's no Q or Moneypenny, pray what is 007 earning back in this one? He had his Omega in the last movie as well as his Aston Martin. Will we see the return to great subterranean lairs of evil? I have my doubts.

Granted, the return of Moneypenny shouldn't be just a phone-in concept considering the longevity of the character.
