Would certainly second that choice but have hopes for CR,QoS & Bond 23.

I'm with you about DC's films.

I'd love to put DC as my fave Bond but I can't judge him on just the one film (Like Lazenby) I'll have to wait until next month LOL

    DN through GF.

Like Fleming novels released every year, these perfectly oiled machines set the benchmark for high quality.

I only wish this topic was 4 to include TB.

Alex has it 100% right--the first three films are all classics. TB is good, too, but I rank it a bit below any of the first three.

Yes, I'd go with the first three. That said, this is a tricky one because usually on the third film it changes a bit, changes tack. Even GF is a bit different to the previous two.

Otherwise, OHMSS, DAF and LALD gives you 3 different Bonds! All interesting and enjoyable for me, for very different reasons as they occupy different places in the Bond universe.

For me it is DN-FRWL-GF. I love the earliest films for their relative faithfulness to Fleming, the direction of Terence Young and Guy Hamilton, and of course, Sean Connery at his best.

If I had to choose a second it would probably be OHMSS-DAF-LALD. OHMSS and LALD are two of my favourites, but unfortunately DAF lets this combination down - still enjoyable but definitely in the bottom half of my ranking.

As was said previously, i hope that CR-QOS-Bond23 becomes one of the top 3-movie periods. ;)

    For me it would be;
    FYEO
    OP
    AVTAK

Rogers worst IMO, But still good.
FYEO, It is one of my worst Bond film, I didn't like the plot or the Bond girl or villain. To cheesy. OP, Getting better, Could of had a better climax to it and made OP character more 'wow'. AVTAK was very good, But it isnt the best, I liked it a lot, 9/10, Zorin is too underrated he could of been more evil :v

This was not nearly as difficult as picking the worst three. The period with the best three is:

    FRWL
    GF
    TB

    FRWL - GF - TB.

I think it's safe to say we'll never see a stretch like that again.

Mine would be GF-TB-YOLT. I enjoy yolt much more than frwl, and gf + tb are the two best bond movies in my opinion.

Like many others, I too would pick FRWL-TB. However, I do want to make one thing clear. ;) My opting for those three films is in no way a criticism of the beautiful DN. :x I absolutely ad :xore DN; my heart just melts so much whenever I watch it. :D

However the question asked for three films, not four, so sadly, I'm going to have to exclude the Queen that is DN and opt for the three masterpieces that follow.

From a "quality of film making" point of view, none will equal the initial 3 film stretch, but, for variations in acting styles, I'll always like DAF-LALD run.

DAR - That's Don't 'ave Regrets, the oft forgotton Bond film after OHMSS, starring Tommy Steele as 007 in a misjudged attempt to corner the cockney market. Included a gadget-equipped market barrow and a shoot out in the old Covent Garden.

FRWL/GF/TB is an excellent pick and a strong contender. However, lately I find I really love TB/YOLT/OHMSS so I'll pick that 3 film combo. But it's a very fierce competition between FRWL/GF/TB and TB/YOLT/OHMSS.

Like most on here I believe that the best streak of three films is FRWL, GF and TB. It was the absolute peak of the Connery years with the franchise's two best directors. DN was a warm up and YOLT was a bit OTT and campy so the middle three for Big Sean is the triafecta!

However, had there not been a six year gap between LTK and GE my pick would be different. TLD, LTK and GE are all great films and that three-movie period was great even though it took longer than usual. At least when I lived through it I was very young and did not yet know of Bond.

Full agreement. The best 3-film period is definitely represented by From Russia With Love,Goldfinger and Thunderball.EON was at a creative highpoint with these movies; not only are they each remarkably faithful to their source material, they also remain among the finest films in the entire series.:)
