Never crossed my mind before now, but... sly Moneypenny reference? An attempt to fool fans (who haven't read Casino Royale) into thinking Vesper was a surrogate Moneypenny and not a typical Bond girl who is fated to die before the credits roll?

I certainly didn't think so at the time (incredibly, it never occurred to me), though I'm probably in the minority...I thought it was just a typically flippant Bond reply to her statement.
