QOS ranks very high in my book. To me both CR and QOS are up there with the best of Connery including DN, FRWL, GF, and Tball. Also in the same stratosphere as OHMSS. A smart confection artfully made.

So, what sharp little eyes you've got...wait till you get to my teeth.

Hello. I am in Japan, where QoS does not open until January, so I have yet to see the film.
If I may ask: Is it one of those that gets better upon each successive viewing?
Thanks in advance.
Try not to read too many reviews---especially here---beforehand, Mr. Biswas.
In my opinion, QoS is the most re-watchable Bond film in decades, and it does improve for me every time I see it.

Thank you, Quartermaster Loeffelholz, for your post. I am trying my best to resist reading spoilers (beyond the ones I have already read!), but I am bound to reach my breaking point soon.
Bond films generally tend to grow on me over time. So I have come to expect my initial viewing to be generally negative, with the expectation that upon rewatching, the film elicits a more favorable response from me. So, despite the overwhelming negative reviews I have caught wind of online this past month, I am confident, thanks in large part to this thread and to its comments, that QoS will rank high on my own list of top Bonds.
perhaps the only sort of "substance" I might contribute, if at all, here relates to the opening title sequence. While I am trying to resist watching anythign online, I couldn't help but watch the title sequence on youtube the other day. (From what I could see, there appear to be at least two versions of the title sequence (one with Alicia's howling, and one sans howling). I wonder which version is the official one.) Anyway, when I first heard the song, I hated it. Now, after watching the titles and the edited arrangement, I am totally in love with it. I wonder if this might be an indication of how I will react when watching the actual movie.
I am all in favor of EON producing more "re-watchable" Bond films, as you very nicely put it. As for the Craig/Brosnan films, the only re-watchable ones for me have been CR and, if I am in a good mood, TWINE. Just for the sake of rounding out my comment, other un-re-watchable films for me have to include LTK, FYEO, and Thunderball.
Incidentally, here in Japan, we are just now getting exposed to the Coke Zero adverts on TV. The lag time between a film's world premiere and its opening in Japan varies from film to film. Matrix Revolutions, for example, opened on the same day. And, if I recall, Spiderman 3 had very little lag time. Too bad those films were stinkers.
Anyway, sorry for meandering. Cheers and have a great day.
Number 17, in between GoldenEye and TND. The Living Daylights and FYEO are above.
It looks good, Craig is good in it. A couple of great set pieces. It might improve for me on that count, but as a film to be enjoyed first time round, it left me cold.
Casino royale was the worst ever.....but quantum was a close one for the title.
No baddies , no gadgets , no bond music , no proper bond girls , **** plot , ....etc etc...Yawwwwnnnnnn
I didn't enjoy it much on my first viewing. However, I also realize that there is a lot of underlying things going on in the film that I missed due to the fast scene editing. I'll have to wait until I see the film a few more times before I rank it.
Unfortunately, I do know I didn't like the film well enough to go see it in theaters again. I'll have to wait until the DVD release to officially rank this one.
I just reshuffled my favorites list a bit, the top 5 are pretty much the same with Goldeneye moving up one notch as it has held up over the years for me.
QoS currently sits at No. 14, just ahead of DAD (which for me was marred not by the invisible Aston Martin but rather Bond's inability to escape from North Korea thru his own devices).
The Overrated Casino RoyaleTM sits near the bottom of the official Bond films for me, just ahead of AVTAK (which was mortally compromised by Roger Moore's advanced years and a really weak John Barry score). Can't decide which is more of a disapointment so I'll give CR the benefit of the doubt...for now.
