So how did Green get 2 bullets in his head????
If he had a gun surely he would have shot Bond?

Because one of his Quantum mates (who Bond said would be looking for Greene) did it.

Greene told Bond about Quantum and was dealt with by his own people.

Bond leaves him in the desert knowing full well that's going to happen to him.

Didn't he also have oil pumped in his lungs ?

    "Do pay attention, 007!" ;)

Greene had oil in his stomach. Fields had lungfuls of crude oil.

The implied premise is that he would have drank it to quench his thirst in the desert, much like those that are stranded at sea finally succumb to drinking salt water.

So while he's slowly poisoning himself to death and is dehydrated and drinking motor oil, a quantum assassin finds him and finishes the job.

No! The oil was not in his lungs, it was in his stomach. Greene drank the motor lube/oil that 007 left him. He must have been crazy with thirst in the heat of the desert.

I would like to think that the "two bullets" will be explained in Bond 23 wit the third in the Quantum trilogy. However my feeling is that Eon will put a stop to that rumour and we will now see a return to the more traditional "stand alone" movies.

I don't think so - Not quite yet. I don't think the two bullets need explaining - Quantum had Greene 'off'd' as damage limitation after he blabbed the wherabouts of Vesper's former boyfriend to Bond.

I'm convinced that we've just seen the dark second act of a trilogy and Bond 23, while not being a direct sequel will see the return of Mr White at some point.....

Gunbarrel at the start. A traditional Bond film with a fully-rounded and bang up to date Bond...

I was SOOOOOOO disappointed by M's "two bullets" comment about Greene being found dead.

I was so excited. Ever since "Goldeneye", I have been watching these Bond movies, wanting the villain to survive so we can get a recurring Bond villain like the old days of Bloefeld and Jaws.

And lo and behold! Bond leaves Dominic Greene alive in the desert. Facing likely death, sure, but you know the old rule of "if you don't see him die, he ain't dead", huh? So I've got all these ideas of Greene making his comeback in the next film, wanting revenge on Bond for leaving him to die in the desert...

Then M says Greene got killed. I was a sad panda. :(

    That's my theory, too.

I have a feeling that White could be the very tip of the pyramid as far as the Quantum Organisation goes and is indeed the equivalent of the new Blofeld.

Apart from Jesper Christiansen's excellent acting, there are a couple of reasons for this.

He pops up everywhere in Casino Royale, right from referring Le Chiffre to the African terrorists at the start.

He's captured at the end and is SO important to the organisation that their 'sleeper' agent within MI6 is triggered by him to effect his own rescue.

We then have the excellent "Tosca is not for everyone" line which shows us the audience that he's alive and well, and back within the heart of the organisation.

He's also the only one of the important Quantum delegates listening into Greene's operatic meeting to have a lady companion with him.

In my opinion, White's the top dog and the next couple of films will be interesting.

I can imagine Bond finding out that it's White's organisation all along and 'M' rueing the fact that "We had him Bond! We had him in our grasp!"

The producers went a lot of trouble to show us that he was still alive - I hope there's a good reason for that. Out of Le Chiffre, Greene and White's very limited screen time, White's been the most sinister by far.

Get Jesper and Daniel signed up for Bond 23, 24 and at least 25 now...

I can't see the next film following on from the storyline of QOS, but I can see White making a comeback.

I would like to see the gun barrel at the opening, just for old times sake.

Though I didn't mind them putting it at the end of QOS. Just when you thought they'd left it behind, along comes the iconic white circle.

    :)

What I got from the "Tosca is not for everyone" line is that Mr. White is more intelligent than the other members of Quantum. He knew Bond wanted them to panic and flee, and therefore give themselves away. So he stayed put.

But really great post here. All disappointment about Greene is now gone, as it seems like I've finally got my recurring villain in the shape of Mr. White.

It would make sense for Mr. White to be the head of the organization. If you remember, Blofeld always preferred a 'hands on' approach. Also he seems to not have a real 'position' in the world, like he doesn't exist. Yet his important and wealthy enough to have a villa on Lake Garda. Also I agree that you would have to be pretty important to the organization to blow a sleeper agent that high up in an intelligence service, let alone know who it is in the first place.

But Blofeld always got others to do his dirty work. You wouldn't see him and Mr Tibbles (that's what I'm calling his cat) going out to a dirty old boat to shoot Le Chiffre in the head.

Seems clear to me that EON is shaking up the franchise, I wouldn't look for White to be a new Blofeld.

I would like to see the "Quantum" orgainzation let go at this point and get back to a "Goldfinger" style villian who is not a member of a mystery cabal.

Perhaps, but Greene's last name is more connected to his line of work as an ecologist.

Two bullets? perhaps wasn't White, he only put a third eye on Le Chiffre (one shot, and he made it count)

but maybe White is No. 2, and Eon is looking higher in the sky. I remember reading that al Pachino would have a Cameo in QoS as the CEO of Quantum, maybe in Bond 23?

or they could bring the evilest creature ever conceived in mankind, Edward Cullen :#

Could we say that Quantum is life imitating art or art imitating life? Quantum or a form of it does exist in this world, it is the world of international bankers and the rich elite. M's question about how the hell did it exist but they never heard of it ? Well the answer is quite simple it hid in plain site. With the exception of Mr. White all the say steering committee of Quantum were known independently as world money players and as a Rothchild once said " As long as I control the money I care not who controls the country" and thats the truth Quantum is more dangerous than any government intelligence organization or terrorist group if you control the finances you control all. I know ajb007 is supposed to be about the fictional adventures of SIS agent 007 but when the truth is placed out there I decided to put in my two pence.

2 bullets for Mr. Greene, I wonder if the rounds used were that of the.22? If so Quantum may have taken a lesson from the KGBs punishment div. would use to take out a traitor or a operative who failed on a operation a.22 fired into the back of the skull would kill and blow off the face as a message to others I believe this was mentioned in The Spy who came in from the Cold or The Quiller Memorandum.
