The Real PPK and P99 fully specs & purchase

I am looking to purchase the Walther PPK and P99 (no toys, the real deal guns). I want to purchase the PPK that was used in "Goldeneye" and the P99 that was used in (Die Another Day/Casino Royale). I want to purchase the exact ones aka same specs and all.

Was the PPK used in Goldeneye the "blued" model?

I've done my research on the forum and it doesn't look like anybody has this answer.

It seems that Walther does not sell the P99 anymore and only sells the P99 - AS, QA, and DAO.

I am wondering exactly what P99 was used and all the specs you can list. There are so many model's on their web site. Was the one used in the movie a full size or was it the compact. Do they only make 1 model of the older P99 or what? Which exact P99 was used in Casino Royale?

Here is the selection of the PPK's from the Germany Walther web site...

    http://www.carl-walther.info/dev2/index.php?company=walther&lang=EN&content=products&hid=2&uid=4

Is the one used in Goldeneye the "PPK 9 mm short, blued" one?

Thanks everyone for any help with this.

The PPK in Goldeneye was a blued Ulm Germany manufacture circa late 1980's in 7.65mm with black grips and black mag base plate. The P99 used in CR was mostly a PAK blank, but a couple of live P99's were used briefly with laser etched marking, pre 2004 design. Here is one screen used P99 from CR ....

The following is not screen used, but shows the model with laser etchings...

Alright. Thanks a bunch. So is this the (PPK) one from their web site that is comparable to the one used in Goldeneye...

    http://www.carl-walther.info/dev2/index.php?company=walther&lang=EN&content=products&hid=2&uid=4&product=403

I just want to make sure it's basically the same.

Also, on the P99. I am guessing they don't make the P99 anymore. Do you know anywhere in the USA that still has them brand new for sale? If not, which model of the new ones is comparable or mostly the same to the old one used in the movies?

The PPK in your link above is a Smith & Wesson licenced copy.

The P99 is still being made and readily available in the States, it just has a slightly different mag release, triggerguard and slide than the older pre 2004 models used in the Bond films. The P99 is a very very fine quality firearm.

    Thanks for the info.

I don't see how the PPK link I provided you say is a S&W when it has "Walther" written all over it.

On the P99, do you happen to know where to get one (the older style) brand new still? Or maybe I can get it directly from the manufacture.

Which P99 of the newer ones would you consider to be the best comparison to the older 2004 model ones... The AS, QA, or DAO? Or are they all the same, just the triggers are different?

The S&W PPK has Walther's name on it because it is a licensed copy and that is part of the agreement between the two companies. Avoid the S&W PPK unless you are looking for a paperwieght.

While you won't find a late 1980's PPK in the states you can get the pre-68 guns, as well as the pre 2004 P99 on various Internet Gun Auctions sites.

Neither will be cheap, but they are out there. Learning the ins and outs of firearm purchasing on the Internet is quite a education. Find a trustworthy local dealer, and a truck load of patience and caution and you can succeed in your quest!

You'll also need a good hunk of cash!

The PPK isn't the easiest gun to find in the states, the PPK/s is far more available. It uses a PP frame which gives it a slightly longer grip, and a PPK slide. I own a newer PPK/s made by S&W, and know a few other people that also have them and have never had an issue. People see one or two guns with problems and write off the other thousands that work fine. It all depends on personal preference as well as having any luck at all in not getting one of the bad ones. I'm not a fan of the SIG 226 because I have twice seen the slide crack on a brand new gun, but wouldn't think twice about picking one up and using it if i absolutely had to.

Alright. This is the only place I have found that sells brand new PPK 7.65mm and P99's...

    http://www.carlwalther.com/pp.htm

Hella expensive. I wish there was a cheaper place. You never answered my question about the P99. Which one of the new P99's would be almost the same to the older P99. The QA, AS, or DAO trigger?

Have you tried going to a gun show? You may have some luck there.
    BTW
I had no trouble finding a PPK, and I love it.

    James Boldman,

Where did you pick one up? Was it brand new or used? Is your's the 7.65mm or is it the 9mm version?

I'm just looking for a brand new walther ppk 7.65mm used in the movie.

The P99 AS is the closest thing.

It's the .380 Smith & Wesson Blue Steel. I bought it new in a local gun shop. I had called a few shops in my area and all they had was the S&W Stainless, which I didn't want. Then I found the one I want just down the street in Belchertown, MA.

So I have this dealer and he has a brand new...

Walther PPK Germany 1966 or 1967 with no import name on them. All brand new. I wonder which one I should get.

He also has a brand new P 99 Millennium (16 Shot). I was going to buy this P99 also but I'm not sure if this is the one he used in the movies.

    Let me know guys. Thanks!
  • seguseseguse USAPosts: 40MI6 Agent
The dealer also said the 2 brand new PPK's that he has are both 7.65mm but they are in alloy frame.

Does anybody know if the one used in goldeneye was alloy frame or steel frame?

The Millennium P99 is the same model, but the markings on the slide are completely different as this was a Ltd Edition for the new Millennia.

Just by a Umarex, it looks better than a p99as.
You know in America it’s “bling, bling”, but out here it’s “bling, bang”.
  • seguseseguse USAPosts: 40MI6 Agent
The dealer was able to look in his stock and he was able to find a brand new P99. So I ordered it! WHoohoo. I'll give some pics once I get it.

As far as the PPK 7.65mm new is a no go right now.
  • yarlqyarlq Posts: 2MI6 Agent
Bond. PPK. Likely better than his.

If you have not found a perfect Bond PPK, I have one for sale.

It is a 1965 German Manufacture, imported by Interarms and then sold to my family.

It has shot approximately 200 rounds, has 99+% original bluing, original holster and Manual and cleaning rod.

I've not seen a cleaner example except for n.i.b. unfired examples.

If interested, send an email to cq_lar@yahoo and I'll send along photos.

Yeah still looking to buy that PPK blued ulm Germany one. Earl's aka Carl Walther says he has a brand new one with no imports on it. Told him to send me pics.

Your dealer had a pre 2004 new in box P99? If so, that's pretty good. I've got the AS version and absolutely love the gun. Shoots like a champ.

Very cool that you found one.

For that P99 set me back $1100. The PPK 7.65mm blued Ulm that I am looking at from same dealer is $1995. It hurts to think about it.

    $1995???

    What year? That sounds outrageous.
It better have the box, papers test target, mags, be un-fired and made of gold.
And floating above the counter glowing, with angels singing in the background.

Get ye to an auction site.

Here are images of the PPK 7.65mm from the dealer. Is this the exact gun that was in the goldeneye movie? The year on the gun is a 1985 with no import marks. Dealer said all guns are fired at the factory and at the Proof House. This is required by German law.

That is the exact model used in Goldeneye. The slide markings are spot on to the screen used PPK. Good find. A little steep with the price though. Then again, it is mint and German without import marks, so infinately more desirable.
