The price won't hurt your ears after you fire that puppy. It will be music! :)

Man that's a nice one! I can hear the angels from here.
It is pricey, but if it's exactly what you want then what the heck.

Yeah Ice, it's what I want. So what the hell, why not. It's just money. Only live once. Once I get it I'll post up pics if anybody wants me too.

Also, where can I buy this exact silencer in this photo???

That exact silencer was custom made for the film. You would probably have to get one made to be screen accurate as I know of no silencer model that looks like it exactly...

That's a pretty dear price for a PPK, but when you want a specific caliber and year of mfg, then you're going to have to pay extra for it.

Good luck with your purchase and by all means ppost some pictures when you finally get it in hand!
  • Asp9mmAsp9mm Over the Hills and Far Away.Posts: 7,535MI6 Agent
You also have to remember that the film PPKs are converted to fire blanks and the barrel is internally threaded for the silencer. To do that to your PPK after paying so much would be a travesty, not to mention bloody dangerous if it went off with silencer still attached :o

If you're wanting an actual, working silencer be prepared for another $1k (roughly) - the barrel has to be replaced. I would strongly recommend against putting a non-functioning silencer on a gun that can still shoot live rounds.
  • seguseseguse USAPosts: 40MI6 Agent
Yeah I knew it was going to be another $1K for one but I want a functioning silencer not a non-functioning one. I'll probably do that way later. Need to save up for one. I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow hopefully. Should arrive tomorrow. Maybe post a video someday as well.

Putting an extended barrel on your PPK for a suppressor will ruin it's sleek lines and looks. As it's a fixed barrel pistol, you'd be stuck with it more so. I wouldn't go down that route personally.

Damn X-( That 'Made in Germany' stamp really is the only negative point. How come you lot make such great stuff, even H&K is German :# Oh well, at least it's not French :p

..or the vast consumption of sausages :p On the beer thing, don't you guys host the biggest beer festivals in the World? Quality, not quantity must be the answer. Britain is doomed :D

Asp9mm, so about that silencer thing. You said that I would need to get a special barrel or something so the silencer can attach to the gun? Well if that's the case then the barrel that came with the gun would just sit in a box then basically. So it would not really hurt the gun, but if you say not to do the silencer then I will not do the silencer.

Gun arrives today. Will take pictures today and post. Video will come later.

Your barrel is fixed on the PPK, It's inherently bad to swap out barrels on PPKs as it loosens up the fixtures eventually if you continually swap out ( barrel inerchange was never something put into the original design), so most people have an extension machined into the factory barrel making it a 1/2 to 1 inch longer to accomodate the threads for the suppressor. I certainly would only let Ulm do this. This also will prove expensive and time consuming

The visual factor is a major thing though. Here's an ASP with a very short extension:

    green-asp-1.jpg

Best get a dummy silencer made with an aluminium plug that will not damage the barrel.

Indeedy, Kev @ Q-branch will make you a very happy man, and sort out an aluminium plug and adapter too ;) Much better and far more accurate tha going down the real suppressor route.

I do like that centre one Kev.

Haha Great pics of the suppressors/silencers. I'll contact Kev about that at a later date.

Just picked up the gun and it is absolutely beautiful. Came with original case, 2x mags, cleaning rod, test target...it also had angels singing the 007 theme song in the background and floating above me as I was holding it.

Congratulations. Now marvel at the tight, perfect engineering, and the solid slide movement and sweet smooth trigger action. Alot of new 'wunderguns' should take note on how it used to be done ;)

It's a good thing I don't get envious, since your "new" PPK has an "IF" date stamp which translates to 1985. Of course it could also stand for Ian Fleming .... and that's pretty cool.

As to the ASP9MM vs Bondtoys feud, I'm sure you boys must know that despite the stampings on the PPK's most of them were made in ...... FRANCE!!!! :o

    vive la foie gras!!!!!!

    ;)

Maybe I'am envious after all, so I'm compelled to post yet another picture of my 1960's PPK

  • seguseseguse USAPosts: 40MI6 Agent
Haha, wow didn't even realize that. I'm just going to tell all my friends it stands for Ian Fleming. ;)

Yeah, I was being sarcastic and trying to get a rise out of him. Didn't work :( His knowledge of guns is the same as women - has a rough understanding of what they do and what they are for, but has no idea of the finer workings and handling techniques :D
