Interesting to see LALD so high up this list. It never occured to me this the top gross for Roger Moore, id always assumed it was TSWLM.
Also DAF so kinda low. Infact despite everyone wanting Connery back, it wasnt a much bigger hit than OHMSS.
Interesting that all of Brosnan's films are fairly similar in gross
Where did u get the info Sweepy?

Interesting: 5 of the bottom 7 (not counting QOS as it'll move up) are the Glen films of the 80s. Then again, the other two - OHMSS and TMWTGG - I quite like. :p

I never knew OHMSS was so successful. I always thought its performance was comparable to LTK (at the bottom of the list).

I always love to see these lists because it exposes the ignorance of so many of the modern average moviegoers. Many of them will defend their claim of CR being the best film of them all because it had the biggest box office gross. Looking at the chart while adjusting for inflation we all find out that CR is not even in the top 5. I also love how the vastly underrated LALD is up so high. It is always good to see proof that OHMSS was not a flop at all. LTK came out in a competitive summer with Indy 3 and Batman. It makes sense that TB is the highest grossing of them all because it followed GF, the film that made Bond a true screen legend.

I suppose you could argue more go to the cinema these days from a broader demographic. I doubt 50+ folk would go to see the Connery films too much but I could be wrong. Or that the markets are broader too, which could push QoS up a bit.

Wonder where NSNA and CR 67 would feature!

I think LALD and OHMSS did well because it's a new Bond and people want to check him out to have an opinion. Didn't work with Dalton too much, mind.

Seems Bond is alive and well. {[]

Doubt QOS passes GE, maybe, but more likely it'll come up a few mil short. It's a bit lower on admissions too, but still in good modern-era Bond territory. Be interesting what they come up with for 23, and how well it does in comparison.

I never knew OHMSS was so successful. I always thought its performance was comparable to LTK (at the bottom of the list).

I don't think its true that OHMSS was a box-office failure. I think it simply performed lower than the films that were released before it. OHMSS is quite a long film (about 2hrs 25mins), which I think played into the box office factor.

Hi, I wonder if anyone else had read this formula
that in the movie industry you need to make back $3 for every $1 spent so some movies once considered flops really did quite well, these examples are adjusted as best i can and in Millions,
    LTK cost $42 ............. MADE $278
    OHMSS cost $8 ............. Made $409
    TND cost $110 ............ Made $523

Meaning tht for QOS to be a smash hit it needs to make $690,000,000 at the boxoffice.
just wondering if anyone knows if this is correct?

Yes but these are the adjusted BO's. Either way I think it is a myth that OHMSS flopped, it just didn't make as much as the films preceding it.

Hmm it seems that six of the top seven were Connery films... I guess in some ways the population's interest in Bond films lessened a bit after the 1960s.

    The 1960s was 'Bond Mania'.

BTW, the top 007 are DN-YOLT, LALD (Moore's first) & CR (Craig's first)

Actually, Sweepy, I think what we're trying to do here is create a brand new myth that QoS wasn't successful ;)

Well it cost about $200M so if 'Thunderpussy's' theory is correct it will need roughly £600M to break-even.

I had a formula, now i have a theory which is'nt based on any science but here goes.
RM first Movie LALD was a big hit, his second TMWTGG didn't do as good, i like many feel it's a weak Bond film.
TD did LD which was a big hit, while LTK was not so sucessfull, and also divided opinions.
PB did Goldeneye another hit, while his second
    TND not so well.
My Point here is that the Actors who have played Bond seem to Be like a band who bring out a great first album and then have trouble with the second, But on thinking back the third attempt is normally a great sucess eg TSWLM then Goldeneye then TWINE ( My theory falls apart here alittle).
Now we have QOS a sucsessfull film but has devided fans after the fantastic CR
But now I've convinced myself that Bond 23 Is going to be Great as they will on taken on board all the mistakes or failures,Improve on what they got right and come back with another hit.
