Hey, whatever happened to . . .

Vesper's e-mail/video? I thought we read that something was or would be filmed with Eva Green as a version of the letter to Bond in the book Casino Royale . . . yet nothing like that appeared in the film. Also, was that even Eva Green in the photos with the boyfriend?

I do believe it was Eva Green in the photos (looked a lot like her anyway). As for the video, not sure. Hopefully someone else can answer that one.

I did see on imdb that Eva Green lends her voice to the QoS video game. Maybe the video described in the book is in the video game?

QOS was edited ferociously, so we'll probably see Vesper's video (and much more of the film) when the DVD is released.

Someday we'll get the extended unedited cut of QOS and all will be well:) Seriously, where would the video message have fit into the film? Maybe while Bond was drinking his 6 martinis at the airplane bar he could have watched it? Right before confronting Vesper's boyfriend? I would have liked to have seen it, just don't know where it would have gone...

My understanding is that this idea was dropped. Most likely it was never put to film. I would have liked to see more of EG, but think having her on a video would be stretching. I think the photo and music references worked well enough.

    Shame, MI:6.

I'd put it near the end of the movie, Discovolante -- something Bond couldn't bring himself to watch until the moment was right. For me, that would be after confronting the boyfriend and letting him live, but perhaps right before the scene apparently filmed with him putting Mr. White out of his misery once and for it. For me, all of that would have shown that at least as far as this story goes, Vesper and the whole affair was behind him; not forgotten, but in a place where Bond can now go on with his life. It's a shame that Forster's desire to treat Quantum of Solace like a series of glimpses interfered with what could have been a much stronger and emotional story.

Gassy, was there a scene filmed of Bond killing Mr. White? Maybe that unedited cut of QoS isn't such a bad idea. I found that there were moments of sheer brilliance when the film stopped to catch it's breath. And the action scenes were fine, they just weren't edited properly. So, I think you are right Gassy, the video message from Vesper right around the time of JB confronting the boyfriend would have been good. Maybe even right before confronting him; sort of like preparing himself emotionally for what he was about to do.

Good point . . . I'd read somewhere that a scene was scripted and, I thought, filmed. Don't recall precisely where I read that though.

I highly doubt that. And if there's any footage left out of the film, it's because Forster didn't want it there.

We'll probably see the cut scenes in the DVD extras. That's what recently happened with the Casino Royale DVD. We won't see an "uncut" version of the film with all filmed scenes intact. I already can't wait for the blue-ray of QOS. Some of the action scenes were so quickly edited, I still feel like I'm missing things, and I've seen it 3 times in the theaters!
