Which ship?

Does anyone know the identity of the passenger ship that Bond returns to the UK on in the film version of Diamonds are Forever?

(where the scene with the "Bombe Surprise" was set)

I thought it was the Queen Elizabeth, not sure if I or II.

RMS Queen Elizabeth was withdrawn and sold by Cunard in 1970, so it wasn't her. It may well have been RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 as she entered service in 1969, but something tells me it was the SS Canberra, I'm sure it was something I read/heard... I really don't know though as trawling through Google is fruitless.

I think, that it has been a much smaller cruiser than the QE 2 and from what I recall (I have seen DAF maybe 15 years ago) you can see the name of the ship in one scene.

What I am sure of is, that it has not been the QE2 for sure.

Edit: Just have been popping the DVD in my computer: There is no name of the ship but a yellow funnel (and the shape of the funnel is much different from the QE2). Cunarders are red and black, so definitely not the QE2

The credits quote P&O lines and the Hovercraft is being ran by Seaspeed, so P&O is a good guess.

It's the Queen Elizabeth I in the book, if that's any help.

If it's a yellow funnel, then it would be a P&O ship.

It can't have been Cunard's QE2 - as the only balconies on that ship were set above (and inside of) the promenade deck, so Wint & Kidd would have landed on the promenade deck rather than in the sea..

Canberra sounds likeliest so far.
