The convertable that really did convert.

I have been trying to figure this out for some time. What does it mean that Bond's Bentley really does convert? It is said in Casino Royale, but I just don't get it. Is it a British thing?

Based on this article, Fleming envisioned Bond's 3rd Bentley, the "Locomotive" to be a press-button convertible, meaning it was automatic. Seeing this as a feature preference of Fleming, I guessed from his description of the 4.5 liter Bentley in CR had that feature customized since I can't think of such a frugal race car having that as a standard feature. Seeing the coachwork on these early Bentley, I wonder how feasible it would be to incorporate an auto mechanism since the portion where the folded roof rested is practically shaped like a tub.
