What do you reckon is the best Bond film to watch at Christmas? I reckon it's got to be a Moore film.. for some reason I feel like watching A View To A Kill......

Easy--the only Bond film set at Xmas: OHMSS. You see girls unwrapping presents, "Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?" plays on the soundtrack, Blofeld trims a tree and promises to give a "yuletide greeting". . .and there's a love story to boot!

OHMSS is the film I am suggesting for XMAS as well. I do not think many will disagree due to the fact that it as Hardy already pointed out, set at XMAS.

It is funny that OHMSS and AVTAK are the two films mentioned so far in this thread because they are the two I watched most recently. I watch my DVDs a lot around the holidays nowadays because Spike TV's Bondathons aren't worth a crap. I miss when TBS did it. I watched OHMSS with my uncle last week because he had never seen Lazenby. I watched AVTAK just yesterday because I had a craving for the awesome John Barry score.

I do not watch Bond films on XMAS day, nor do I feel there is one that I prefer for the season. I will just pick whatever I am in the mood for. I suppose I will probably watch a Moore film just after XMAS as well, Christmas Tounes. I think TMWTGG or TSWLM will suffice.

To replicate my post on another thread, Thunderball and OHMSS make a good (though lengthy) double bill as both follow on very well as far as Spectre goes, makes sense logically in terms of plot and the young Connery seques into Lazenby more convincingly, plus sun sea and sand become snow and ice, they complement each other.

Otherwise OHMSS then TWINE aren't a bad double bill, the latter references the former.

And FYEO has a seasonal flavour to it doesn't it.

I agree that OHMSS makes for good Christmas time viewing. Also in the past I would watch Goldeneye during the holidays or even another Bond film if I could not find a television program that I liked on. I also like to try to watch as many Bond films as I can during the summers as I find I am becoming somewhat jaded at times with summer movie offerings at my local cinema.

My Memories of christmas are of watching Goldfinger after the christmas lunch,so it always feels like a christmas movie to me.Infact ITV showed it so often at christmas it became a tradition.

Although OHMSS has Christmas themes, I think that the Bond films which are high on spectacle but the least demanding in terms of plot - say, YOLT or TSWLM - make for better viewing fare during a season when eating, drinking and snoozing tend to dull audience receptivity. Watching TSWLM after Christmas lunch, one can enjoy the festivity of the parachute ski jump, fall into a stupor while Moore is in Egypt, then wake up somewhat for the Lotus Esprit action sequences. As Christmas is a season of goodwill, a film like TSWLM in which the violence is slapstick rather than realistic also seems more appropriate.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.

OHMSS may be set at Christmas, but I always am in the mood for lighter fare such as YOLT or TSWLM. This reminds me of the TBS marathons I grew up on... "This holiday season on the Superstation: 15 days of 007."
