I think you misunderstood the point I was trying to make. IMO, if the "reboot" had happened before GE, (meaning if the "reboot" had been done in any film up to and including LTK), Eon can have Bond and Moneypenny engaged in a sexual encounter without going against any established history between the 2 characters. However, since the reboot happened in 2006 and not prior to 1995, and in GE, Moneypenny claimed that she and Bond never had sex together, that kind of established a history that eliminates the possibility of Eon putting that scenario into the films of the "reboot" era.
My point is: there is no established history for these two characters. To me, that's what a "reboot" is. Bond and Moneypenny haven't haven't met yet---ergo, nothing which has transpired in the first twenty films (in my own personal opinion) has any bearing---at all---on what happens from now on.
In FYEO, Tracy Bond's gravestone clearly says she died in 1969. In 2008, James Bond has never been married, which clearly sets a precedent for trumping established history.
In CR, M says she misses the Cold War, which ostensibly means it's over---yet Bond certainly undertakes missions, such as in TLD, which are predicated by the Cold War. How can this be, if he only becomes a '00' after it has ended? Well, it can't, obviously. I don't necessarily think that Doctor No, Red Grant and Electra King are in Daniel Craig's Bondian future. They're in the character's cinematic past, which IMO is entirely separate from where we are following CR and QoS.
Each of us views these things in our own way, of course---we all have our own idea of how Bond's life has unfolded over 22 films and/or dozens of novels by Fleming, Amis, Gardner, Benson and now Faulks. Each of us picks and chooses, and discards some things altogether.
And who knows? Perhaps Eon shares your view that they are 'locked in' to certain situations because of something a character said in 1995. I doubt that they do, principally because I'd be surprised to see them limit themselves in such a way---I certainly wouldn't, if I were them---but then again, they surprise me constantly.
This is quite academic, really, since (as I've said) they typically don't take my unsolicited advice

Once EON hollowed out that volcano and landed space rockets in it, all bets concerning series verisimilitude were off IMO (and lol). They can do - and have done - anything they dang well want with Bond and his world. So far with the reboot there's been some nice consistency CR to QOS, I would imagine they'll try to stay the course with 23 (but how that manifests is really anybody's guess). Bond and Moneypenny having an adventure together ala Bond and Goodnight in TMWTGG wouldn't surprise me, it's all up for grabs at this point IMO.
1) Start with a GUNBARREL
2) Action Sequence -ski, car chase, fight to the death
3) Movie Theme Song
4) Plot gets revealed
5) Baddie does something evil. Kills a woman or poor helpless scientist.
6) Bond reports to HQ, flirts with Moneypenny and gets assigned his mission, jokes with Q and gets some and new gadgets
7) Numerous chases and fights
8) Bond gets captured by main baddie
9) Baddie reveals his actual plot, not the one we thought it was
10) Bond uses gadget to escape
11) Bond kills main baddie
12) Bond makes love to leading lady while talking to M and the Prime Minister
...I thought I'd try to take the series in a new direction.

Let's just say that your view on how things should be handled in this reboot era is different than mine. However, this is a purely academic discussion anyway, since at the end of the day, Eon will do what they want to do, and we'll still happily spend our hard-earned money to see whatever they decide to give us.

You forgot to mention Bond seducing the evil but sexy henchwoman between steps 7 and 8 (and, BTW, said henchwoman will help him achieve step 10), and his asking for a vodka martini "shaken, not stirred" somewhere between steps 10 and 11 (let's call that momentous occasion step 10a). Other than that, the sequence that you proposed is perfect

Yes, yes very good points indeed. I can't believe I neglected to mention the Martini and the evil henchwoman. I guess my creativity with these original ideas was just flowing so fast and furious that I could hardly type fast enough to get them down and boom! the next new idea was right there.
You know, these plot ideas are really out there. We're talking about taking the whole series into a radically new direction, but it just might work.
{[] Cheers all, actually I agree with the person who said it earlier on this thread. "All I hope is that they manage to keep the camera steady for a minute or two in the next film." From your words to their ears, amen.
i would like the film to be called property of a lady and the plot has m killed and some property of hers stolen you no some evidence that incriminates high officals and bond has to investigate and everyone thinks m was a traitor and part of quantum except bond and as for the commando raid that everyone seems to want that could happen in the pts with bond leading special forces against insurgents in some moutain top caves sothere is acertain homage to the early connery films ie thunderball yolt where bond leads commandos only with a twist its at the beginning not at the end also they could bring in a new m a recently retired admiral or make it a army colnel and with him his secratary a former wrn or soldier from the logistics corp called money penny.the whole film culd be a fantastic thriller where you dont know whos part of quantum i do not want to return to the pb over the top films not for dc tenur anyway
(Gasps for air)
I don't want to have Judi Densh's M killed just yet, but there is a lot to like about your plot idea. I would like teh henchman to be just like Red Grant is described by Flemming in FRWL, that would be the scariest and most dangerous henchman Bond ever fought.
Having the commando raid(SBS?) in the PTS is a briliant idea! MI6 has foud some intel on Quantum since QoS and strikes back, Quantum retaliates by killing M.
And the comma and full stop is above the Alt Gr on your keyboard. Your posts will be much easier to read if you use them.
as the producers now seem to want to jump on the band wagon of whatever is trendy eg The Bourne films i think they should get in touch with disney for the High School Musical team and really re-boot the series with a couple of song and dance numbers after all the new frantic editing style will work well for music videos.
Myle Syrus could be the Villan and the Jonas bros could do the theme song, hell even Pierce could be brought back after all he now has some experience singing on film.
and after his brooding performance in QOS Daniel Craig needs a lighter leading lady who harks back to a more classy bond era, i suggest Jodie Marsh

Regardless of the vitriol some feel toward today's Eon, the notion of piggy-backing on current trends is hardly a new one for the producers
I actually think that, rather than restricting themselves to only one Beach Boys song, they should cobble the soundtrack of the next one together from the band's entire catalogue---a whopping great Beach Boys medley, thematically linking the action to the music.

I don't want a commando raid (not yet at least) - how about Bond escaping from deep within a big Quantum facility after being captured?
It could be very similar to when Bond broke out of MI6 custody in Die Another Die, a admitedly fairly good bit where Bond escapes from a medical bay and then finds out the "hospital" is really a Royal Navy warship.
Instead of being played for laughs, it could be quite intimidating and disorientating, with the Quantum facility being a much more sprawling, cutting-edge, and elaborate version of the MI6 interrogation facility featured in Quantum of Solace.
'Alright guard, begin the unnecessarily slow moving dipping mechanism...'
Like everyone else
the gunbarrel at the begining followed by a great action or stunt piece to leave the viewer
breathless,
I would do away with the titles just put the names up on sreen over a piece of plot or begining of villans crime etc.
Have a villan worthy of Bond ( the last few were pretty small fry )
I'd love to see a henchman again who looks like he could kill Bond with no trouble.
and if as many think it's to be set in New York why not have the villan use the street gangs as his troops, with them using street slang etc Bond would be a fish out of water.
If the script could have a few one liners after all Bond is supposed to have a dry witt
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
With all due respect, I think the "fish out of water" thing has been done to death in too many films including some Bond films (Live and Let Die comes to mind). Also, as far as the street gangs...I don't want EON to have any excuse to even consider casting some rap star as a thug in a Bond film or even worst a rap Bond theme song.X-( Nastier, deadlier henchmen (think Oddjob), a great villain, and the gun barrel at begining I am absolutely on board with.
Quantum is a very quiet, wheels within wheels syndicate who mostly uses proxies (whether organized crime, terrorists or rogue regimes) to do their dirty work. They do this so they can make money, SPECTRE wants to make money as well, but trying to start WWIII on behalf of Red China would be detrimental to carrying on making money.
Quantum wants to exploit the world rather than destroy it, so although they could feasibly get more tactically aggressive by decapitating Britain's government they're likely not exterminationists like Stromberg or Drax (as far as we can tell).
And as much as I miss the Ken Adam sets from the 60s and 70s, I don't want a Quantum volcano lair, but instead Quantum operating out of a lair similar to MI6's operations centre but located within or beneath a corporate front.
Great summary of Quantum. Quantum is an orgainisation for the 21st century. Why have secret volcano bases and try to destroy the world when you can control it from penthouse offices in a corporate skyscrapper. International bankers have done more damage to the world than SPECTRE ever could.
Bond 23 has got to tie up some loose ends re Quantum. Mr. White is still out there. We know from the Tosca meeting that there are some very serious people running Quantum.
I agree with most of the other contributors Bond 23 needs:
1. A heavyweight villian. Le Chiffre was a good villian in a 'non global threat' sort of way. Dominic Greene was poor. He had all the latent menace of Winnie the Pooh.
2. A good henchperson. A Red Grant equivilant. Someone that Bond can have a serious knock em down drag em out fight with. His end fight with Dominic Greene in QOS was more light two schoolgirls scrapping. Elvis was a waste of space. When Greene employed Elvis he deprived some village of a good idiot.
3. An ambitious plot. Hicking up water prices in Bolivia didn't really do it for me.
play the Bond Theme, they use it for the trailers so why not the movies, and stop putting in nods to older Bond films. They seem to be there just for fans to see how many they can count.
For example, agent Fields found on the bed an homage to goldfinger. But why not of had nailed to the wall crucified over the bed with something like "Back off" written in her blood across Bond sheets. ( this is just an idea, i sure others will have better ones ).
I sure it could of been filmed in such away to pass the censor.
Lasty if they want a universaly hate figure for the next villan just make him a city banker, they've achived more to criple the west than SPECTER or QUANTUM could hope too

I liked the "drowned in oil!"-death, but i also liked your idea.
And wasn't Le Chiffre a banker?
because of Daniel Craig potrayal of James Bond differ from previous actor(which is dark and show true ex special force), i wish Bond 23 show more spy elements and military adventure. how about James Bond chasing rebellious SAS or MI6 member who organise deadly & ilegal private military company who make fortunes from Africa conflict by smuggling guns and providing military service for the conflicting countries. i think it will be interesting story where JB try find one by one who is among MI6 member of that organisations, especially the organizations has a connection inside MI-6 or royal family members. maybe it the story looks goldeneye but in the darkway which is no tank chasing or satellite involvements.
Hey all. I have been lurking for some time and wanted to add my 2 cents.
I have just finished reading Casino Royale and Live and Let Die. As Live and Let Die takes place right after Casino Royale, why not take the theme of Live and Let Die and turn that into the 23rd movie?
I know that Live and Let Die has already been made and I am not calling for a remake. In the book, the soviets are using Mr.Big to help fund their operations. Why not make the next movie along the lines of having Bond and Felix meet up in New York City to take down a major source of Quantum's funding?
It would seem plausable enough, and has the potential for some good villians (I was thinking Ving Rhames as Mr.Big type character). I'm curious as to what people might think about this idea overall.

I agree with Mailfist on how Bond 23 storyline should playout. Also I do hope that Bond finds Mr. White again as QOS showed he plays a big part in running Quantum and would no doubt have access to vital intelligence information that MI6 would find helpful in destroying them.
I like the idea of a Mr. Big style villain, but make him a high profile rap "artist" who secretly oversees Quantum's presence in regular organized crime in the urban areas of North America.
