You have met me remember. Although I tried to avoid you constantly. I was the 6ft 2in one. Which actually is a midget a big galoomphing idiot like you I suppose.

C'mon, the new Rolex Glidelock clasps are a huge improvement over those pressed metal things. It was the one thing everybody complained about with Rolex in the last decade.

I think the Rolex professional watches reached their most 'tool like' zenith in the late 70s, prior to the transition to sapphire crystals and white gold surrounds in the 80s - i.e. monochrome matte dials, large lume plots, brushed silver date wheels, the last of the plexi crystals and introduction of the heavy oyster bracelet.

    Agreed.

Because every idiot on the planet including yourself complained about it does not mean that they are better now :v

Have you ever tried to adjust the size of a GMT or any other non- Glidelock modern clasp?
Or gotten sand between the blades or inside of the springy part?

Of course not because the most adventurous that you are doing would be farting your desk chair :D

Hold on. Are you now agreeing with my past posts where I pointed all that out about sand under the bezel and in the clasp when used in the desert :)) Interesting :))

Yeah, I like them as they are better built and the glidelock is so easy to adjust. The sand in the bezel is much more of a problem as you can't get that out without a watchmaker. I haven't worn my Sub in the desert unless it's on a Nato since 2010, but sand still gets under that and scratches the back up. Sand is bad stuff, get's all up in every crack.

Just to throw this into the battle of Omega Vs Rolex mix...

Doing some watch research the other day I came to realise that whilst the future King of England is a well known long time Omega SMP (blue dial / bezel) wearer; his 'cooler' younger brother wears a very nice Rolex Exporer (white dial - probably the version II) :)

I think I would rather have the Omega and Kate than a Rolex and no Kate...

The argument that Rolex is now too vulgar for Bond has always interested me.

Sure, Rolex seem to be the watch of choice of chavvy soccer players and US rap stars.

But so are Bentleys AND Aston Martins - and no one suggests Bond should give up his Aston.

As far as I'm concerned, whoever else, or whatever other type of people, buy Rolex is irrelevant: it was Fleming's choice for Bond. Omega were EON's MARKETING partner for Bond, quite a difference.

I'm typing this wearing a PO. It is a great watch. My Submariner is at home. And I know which one is more in keeping with Bond.

    It's interesting that Rolex is considered too vulgar, but DC wears Tom Ford suits at about 5k a pop -{

The latest Omega offerings are also not far from Submariner prices now, and some of their so called "special editions" make me quite nauseous when I look at them.

Don't get me wrong, I own and love my Planet Ocean (CR version) but Omega's marketing machine is horrible to the point of being vulgar.

I am sure they were "James Bond's choice" when the costume department said "here, Brozzer, put this on!"

All of the Omega watches Bond wore for the past 20 years in order of appearances in the Bond films...
