Casino Royale Collectors Edition

Has anyone picked up the new 3 disc collector's edition of Casino Royale. I'm curious to find out if the "deleted scenes" are worth buying it for. I was at the video store yesterday afternoon and I am pretty sure most of the extras are the same as when I first bought it but now with deleted scenes.

Also, I liked the new cover art quite a bit.

I haven't yet seen it, but my brother-in-law has it and says that among the deleted scenes, there's the cricket match where JB makes his first kill (don't know why they left this out of the film!) and a scene where he is taken to hospital after his torture.

I need to get a copy!

    Morning gentlemen.

I had the chance to pick the 3 disc CE at only 8.99€! I was strolling through my local mall and found a sales section in a videogame store, and voilá there it was!!

As other fellow members said, there's the complete cricket scene which should have made it to the final cut. I think it helps to know a little more of the story, and IMHO, i don't find it to slow the pace of the beginning.

Then, there's the scene in which Bond arrives to the hospital after the car crash and ball beating. We can see him covered in a thermal blanket, he's bruised, battered, and bleeding.

Another scene takes place in Venice, where we can see Bond and Vesper getting out the elevator and heading to the entrance, they have the chit chat and then Bond goes back to the room and sees Gettler at the reception. Bond doesn't like the guy and finds him suspicious.

Another scene takes place in Montenegro, when we can see Bond and Vesper chatting about government funds and walking towards the limo which carries them to the Splendide.

Plus, in addition to the deleted scenes, there are several new documentaries that were not on the original 2disc set.

I got this last Saturday with a voucher that I got for my 30th Birthday last week, (was going to put it towards a Walking Stick or Zimmer Frame but changed my mind :D ).

I have not watched all of the features on the 3 discs but I have watched the deleted scenes and I would say that they are interesting enough to get the DVD alone.

But then I watched the documentary on the Miami airport chase and that was really good, indepth and featured a brief scene where Carlos drops the keyring/bomb into the petrol tank of the petrol tanker.... along with alternative angles and storyboard comparisons.... all good stuff!

The only other documentary that I've had time to watch was the Bond in the Bahamas. You might be forgiven for thinking that this only focuses on Casino Roayale's filming there... but it goes right back to the time that Fleming spent on the island, his friend Ivar Bryce, who also lived on the island, the filming of Thunderball and the lady who plays poker with Bond at the Ocean Club and her familys history on Paradise Island. Great!

So all in all I would seriously recommend this CD set to anyone who likes Bond, and especially those who think that Casino Royale is one of the Best Bond Movies Ever!

Also HMV, which is where I got it from are offering a book of Movie Stills for anyone who pre-orders QoS. But looking at CR I'm not sure if I'm going to rush out and get it just incase a 3 disc delux type box set comes out a few months later. Who knows? ?:)

The 3 disc set is great! Even if you have the 2-disc already I would say it is worth upgrading. In addition to the deleted scenes which have been mentioned, the additional featurettes are well worth watching. The filmmaker profiles section is quite good as well - normally these tend to be written bios, but on this DVD they are about 10 minute video features including interviews with the filmmakers involved and behind the scenes footage.

I would expect that a 3-disc edition of QOS is in the pipeline, but that it will only be here when Bond 23 is coming out. So, for now I'm going to grit my teeth and buy the available DVD, and then double dip on the deluxe edition.

The CR delux edition is a must for your collection.
Containing unseen / unknown facts at a price that does not break the bank.

The deleted scenes (which would have slowed the pace of the film) are invaluable as to the insight of getting under the skin of the characters.

The other thing which the 2 disc CR DVD didn't have was Martin Campbell's director's commentary,
which the 3 disc set does have I believe.
Can anyone comment if this sheds light on his thoughts about re-inventing Bond, as he did previously with Pierce Brosnan and Goldeneye?
