I thought we had moved on from this already...OK, First off, nothing is ever free. Second, olgivy may be, that does not mean that Levi's did not pay them or a sister co. case in point-

Do your research next time so you do not make such a fool of yourself. I found this in 38 sec. Which I only looked up for your benifit. As you will read, most companies do not give the dollar amount that it has contributed to a film, and some companies do not wish to be listed at all. The companies want you to think that you decided to buy the product all by your self with no subliminal influence at all. Be realistic guy...You nor I would give to shits about Khaki's or Black steve McQueen jackets that have been recycled or 1964 gillette razors or even the aston Martin, down to the matini if we wer not so infatuated with Bond. That is how companies make money. Is it genius?.....NO it is comon sense. But seriously, I did not become an agent on this site to argue with you 006, I signed up so all of us could speak with each other about what we are addicted to...missions, bondlifestyle-http://www.jamesbondlifestyle.com/(I did not even get paid to do that) and to help each other on our mission. Missions to find the truth about where to get stuff etc...So, if you want to argue, go ahead, just leave me out of it, and come on 006, we all know what happens to you when you mess with 007.

Thank you SO much for that lesson in marketing and product placement. That subject had always alluded me until now, but I think I am clear on it. And thank you for those links that explain clearly how Levis was a part of the product placement, which was my only point in the above. I missed the Levis huge pre-launch and launch of its marketing segmantation because I have been so busy lately. That'll teach me.

    Holy tirade, Batman!

MI6BOND007, with all due respect, you may want to reconsider your approach. Insulting long-standing members who are merely asking for souce material for your claims is not going to place you in anyone's good graces. And maybe you don't care about that. Your prerogative. But I do want to address your rather abrasive statement from an earlier post -
    MI6BOND007 wrote:
How do you think that the films are made? The money comes from thin air? The rich have never spent their own money to make more money as a film franchise will not use hardly any of thier own money to make a film. other wise why would films allow sponsors?

Movies are hardly made on the backs of product placement deals, especially studio franchise films which now cost upwards of $200 million (and often $300 million and beyond). Yes, product placement does generate some revenue that helps to offset some of the negative cost of a film, but it rarely adds up to anything significant - we're talking a few hundred thousand dollars, maybe. If we're talking a big brand name like Nokia or Ford, then that figure might reach $1-2 million. But the inclusion of clothing items doesn't generate significant profits for filmmakers. The clothing is worn in the film, but no reference is made to it. Unless an item is specifically written into the film (i.e. - Tom Cruise says, "Thank goodness I brought my Nike Kevlar jacket"), very little money is made. Now you may ask 'what makes me an authority on this?' No, I'm not an actor. I am one of those you previously referred to as "the rich" - I work for a Studio, and I spent 5 years in the production finance/budgeting department.

Now to get this thread back on topic, if you've found some info related to the "CR" Bahamian pants, please post away below! But if you've found a great alternative for the "QoS" STA-PREST jeans, feel free to post your thoughts in this thread - http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/31952/quantum-of-solace-on-a-budget-article-posted/ or another related thread.

If it's one of the "QoS" jackets, here's where to go - http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/32622/budget-qos-jacket/.

Dont sweat it. We are on the same team hear. By the way, every time I try to upload a photo for my avatar, it tells me the files to big. I know that there is a minimum, yet, all my pictures cannot exceed it? Any help on this? Also, I want to share my pics of the jacket and pants. How do I do that?

Welcome to the club. I am one of the rich as well. I meant no disrespect to a long standing member. However, if you are reading the post, you would have noticed that I was insulted first. So in order for me to become a long standing member, I would appreciate the same respect. As you can see in my responses, I state that we are all on the same team hear. Also, I never suggested that Levi's paid millions. But I mearly stated that they did pay. Pepsi paid a very small amount to be palced in top gun, however, when you see the guy get the coffe knocked out of the tay in the hall...Press pause...the tray says pepsi. Most of the adds that are seen are in fact subliminal. That is because, due to millions of dollars spent on research on how to grab the spender, they realized that that works the best. Some call them easter eggs on a variety of levels. Back to the way other members treat other members. If someone disagrees with another members statements, it is bad form to react so rudely. It is only natural that the person who was treated in that mannor react. I thought I was very poite about the situation and used humor to calm the situation down a graet deal, and emphasizing that we are all here for the same reasons and on the same team, I received a very nice email from the person after he had read my statement. So I believe it has been resolved. But keep in mind that a long lasting member started as a new member at some point. All members should be treated the same. Thank you

Understand that the way people become RESPECTED long standing members is to have an open mind, a sense of humble, and to TRY to present your knowledge in a factual way. We are all wrong from time to time and that is more than ok...but over-explaining it tends to border on sensativities.

As I have said, I was not treated the way you are stating that a member should be traeted and yet you single me out, is this how new members are treated? I worked for the government for three years as a fed, I have been in acting most of my life. I know from both fields that people are often wrong or mis-informed. And your correct, it is ok. But if someone disaggrees with you as the member in question clearly and abrassively disagreed with me. I only informed him. You did read all the posts before singling me out correct? I only reacted to being treated the way that I was being treated with information that I know to be true. So in fact, As I stated before, all members should be treated equal. Did you send a message to the other guy saying to be nicer to newer members and since he has been a long standing respected member that he should know better? You are acting as if I had threatened a member. This is and has been blown way out. The matter has been resolved and again, if you read what I had wrote, I was very diplomatic towards all members, not just one.

Further more, I have been a standing long time respected member of all the other Bond sites such as MI6, Bondlifestyle, commander Bond etc, etc, etc. And I have never been treated this way. I am a grown man and not a child for you to talk down to. If you want to play god and act like a child when you do not get your way and say, I am going home and taking my ball too. Then go ahead. I did not become an agent of this site to be spoken to with disrespect either, nor did I join to argue. I joined to connect with other bond film fans, and fans of the life style. What part of treating your members with the same respect weather thet are new or old members do you not understand. Did the gentlemean contact you and ask you to intervein? Like I said, this has been blown way out of proportion over a movie. It is hard to be soft spoken and expresive when writing in a blog. At no time were my words harsh in any way. I am soory if they were taken that way. I have never been member to any site that has acted in this manor, where you cannot disagree as adults. Is that a rule that you cannot disagree with long standing members. I thought it was an interesting conversation.

MI6BOND007; I think I understand where you are coming from...It is sometimes difficult to express in words what you are feeling emotionally.

Don't take it too seriously... I can assure you that members of this site are respectful toward each other and also have a good sense of fun about everything.

Please don't let a misunderstanding about a pair of trousers stop you from enjoying this site.

But..I still don't want to sit next to you at the GTG!! Joke:))

MI6BOND007, there is no undermining of members and no ulterior motives. Honestly, we're all courteous and receptive to new theories, ideas, and opinions. I believe what you see as being "singled out" is merely a chance for you to support your claim that Oakley will have a presence in the next Bond film. The opportunity to provide that evidence has been, and continues to be, abundent. Simply stating that you have "a friend who works in production sales" is not concrete proof - you must understand that. If we are not to take this information as fact, as you later stated, then why are you providing it?

As a former G-man and standing member on other Bond sites, you must know that respect is earned, not doled out on a platter to anyone who asks for it. The long-standing members here (of which I am not one) have earned their stripes by their diligent research, reporting, and confirmation of fact which has led to the abundence of knowledge we have on these films. From my experience here (and take this as sound advice if you like), they have an incredible wealth of knowledge and have discussed these items at great length, so be prepared to have the spotlight on you if you're going to call them out.

Personal feelings and attitudes aside, please understand that we're here to discuss the various elements of the Bond legacy and franchise, on all levels, not to stir any hornets' nests. Here, we're discussing Bond's wardrobe. If you have information and/or opinions regarding his clothing, welcome to this forum and please post away.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

Well put, DBS...perfect really. And you ARE a long standing member in good order...it's not the years, it's the mileage!

Wow, that is a repeat of what I already said, is that not plagerism?lol As far as who brought up the Oakley thing..........READ THE POSTS. We have moved on with that subject and were speaking of the pants in the film. The Oakley thing is the only thing that I said that I got second hand so take it how you will. And uhmm...yeah, repeating what I said all along. Anyhow, I bought the pants from Banana republic and they are awsome. Look identical to the chip implant scene.

Thank you, Mantis! I appreciate that very generous comment.

That's great news, MI6BOND007! When you get the Photobucket details sorted out, I'd love to see pics of those BR pants! Let me know if you have any issues getting the photos uploaded and the image codes - I can always post them up here for you. Coming from a vendor that is readily accessible to most, the BR pants could be a great alternative for many of us. I've procrastinated taking pics of my Ted Baker pants, but I will do so by the end of the week and post pics alongside the swatch of the screen-worn pants.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

We're Ted Baker pants used in the movie or were they something else? I'd love a pair to go with my Sunspel polo.
  • MI6BOND007MI6BOND007 WORLDWIDEPosts: 61MI6 Agent
That may be easiest for me if you do not mind. I could email them to you and then you could post them. I also bought the jacket from BR for $90 and on the other post we are going to have a vote whos jacket is the closest. The Tom ford one has leather on it.(Photos sent in from another user) But the one that craig wears in the deasert scene holding the gun has no leather and looks exactly like mine. So If you would like I can email you both pics. storm1157@att.net

Just shoot me an email and I will send them out tonight or tomorrow. Thank you for the help. LONG LIVE BOND.

notice the flare at the bottom of the pants are the same. And they have the rivets. One thing though. I wear a 32x32 and these are a 32x30 they run very long. so you may want to drop a size in length.

I can't seem to find these on the BR web page, but perhaps I just keep slipping over them. Did you get them from a regular BR store or a BR Factory store? Or do you have a model number maybe?

I could be mistaken, but I think these are them in the "khaki" color. There's a 30% off coupon at BR until the 21st:

Can I resurrect this thread, or should I stick to my original "design your own clothing" thread? I was looking for these pants, in terms of style, but with the pockets of a cargo pant.

A khaki tactical pant, perhaps? But much more form-fitting, like the pants from the Bahamas scene. I want to be able to be seen in public.

I'm currently wearing these, so you understand my concern, about being too baggy:

After watching CR for the umpteenth time the other day , did anyone in the Uk track down where I can get the khaki trousers from that are SA? The ones worn with sunspel polo on his Bahamas return.
Obviously I'm a bit late with this one but would like to make the outfit for the summer.
Any help is welcome and what I exactly need to ask for ?

In context to the conversation, Oakley never provided the eyewear for Bond is the last movie. I think M16BOND007 had an inside source that made such a claim.

Yes we never saw Oakleys. That was quite amusing. Just as a general though - were they Ted Baker trousers with the sunspel polo? Also what boots does he wear in that scene?

The boots are the John Lobb Romsey's, as for the trousers I fear they were never positiviely identified (although I'm looking from time to time on ebay and similar sites in order to check if I will find a matching pair).
