The Best James Bond...

Who do you think is the best James Bond ever? I think Sean Connery is absolutely the best Bond ever because he had a hard edge like Dalton and Craig but at the same time he was debonair and he had a dry wit. And he was the first actor to portray Bond on the silver screen.

    Sean Connery

    But all of the other Bonds did bring something new to Bond, making it what it is today. -{

    I like them all :p

Timothy Dalton gets my vote, closely followed by Roger Moore.

Roger Moore and Daniel Craig two completely different styles tho, get my vote.
Lazenby was good but he only did one film.

For me it'll always be Connery.Big Tam brought everything to the table:talent,a distinctive speaking voice, charisma to spare, plus a powerful physique and dark good looks. He was taller than Fleming's creation and he didn't the blue eyes and black hair(nor the jagged scar running down his right cheek), but all of the other elements were there. The young Connery can be charming and elegant while also being the kind of man you'd never want to have as an enemy. He has a dangerous edge. His 007 is catnip with ladies, and a cold-blooded killer.

There's a trend today to say that Connery played Bond as though he was some kind of superman.I respectly suggest that that really isn't true. During the course of his first four films,Connery's 007 undergoes moments in which he's frightened, wounded and almost killed.Oh,sure, some of the later 007s have bled more on the screen and a few have actually suffered longer--but the Connery Bond was never invulnerable.

I think that every actor who has played James Bond brings something valid to their performances-and in their own ways they've all been impressive. But in my opinion, while the other gentlemens' interpretations of James Bond are each noteworthy,Sean Connery remains THE James Bond.

I don't have a specific favourite, but here's my views on them all:

Sean Connery: I think of all the Bonds he seemed the most likely to beat you to a pulp. A big, strong and muscular guy. I also think Connery had a way with dealing with Bond's wit wihout being too over-the-top (unlike Moore) at the same time, I don't think he's quite as good as some have said and I just feel he didn't have that much of awell-rounded personality outside of being a womanising secret agent...not to mention having the most imitatable Bond accent (eg: his constant pronunciation of "Poosy")

George Lazenby: Not exactly a great Bond at face value, but gave the character more emotional depth than Connery, I feel. Lazenby's main weakness was inexperience. Had he stayed on to do more Bond films, he probably would've done much better.

Roger Moore: Damn it all, I like Roger Moore. Some people don't as he played a slightly camp version of the character, but I think that helped Bond be more "fun". Maybe not more exciting, but I tend to smile a great deal when Moore is playing Bond.

Timothy Dalton: Dalton lacks the wit and humour of his predecessors, but I think, in a way, it improves him. Again, Dalton makes Bond seem like a much more realistic character than Roger Moore did. I've also liked that Dalton has a slightly vulnerable side that he subtly gives away, whilst still being very much a tough guy.

Pierce Brosnan: The "all-rounder" Bond. Had the toughness of Connery, with the wit of Moore. Okay, maybe not quite as strong in those fields, but he alsways had a goodbalance and seemed to make Bond a "well-rounded" character.

Daniel Craig: Again, something of a combination of Bonds. He has Dalton's somewhat cold edge, and is probably ony beaten by Connery in his physical tough look. Still, I long for the days of wit and one-liners...

I don't think you know what you're talking about...first you bemoan Sean Connery for his lack of a well-rounded personality but when you talk about Daniel Craig (A Bond who actually does have a well-rounded personality) you complain about how much you miss the days of wit and one-liners (the Sean Connery era) make up your mind.

Now now Jimmy Bond... Grishenkojr is quite right. Connery was fun and suave but not well-rounded as he never really showed emotional vulnerability, that was the gag, that he was, if not a superman, a supremely confident example of the macho male ego.

More in the spirit of Moore than Connery. I just feel that the more recent films in particular QOS have been a bit too much like generic action films than "Bond" films and I feel that the witty dialogue went a long way in establishing Bond's distinctive style.

I don't know if that makes things clearer for you, I'm not always the best for articulating what I'm trying to put across.

Connery will always be Bond for me.

But despite that fact, I have actually come to enjoy Daniel Craig's performance even more. So I guess he is the best Bond for me right now.

I was also always a great fan of Timothy Dalton.

So I guess I like my Bond rough...:v

More in the spirit of Moore than Connery.

Roger Moore sucks because he was too damn old to be playing James Bond Sean Connery was the right age.

    1.Craig
    2.Brosnan
    3.Connery
    4.Lazenby
    5.Moore
    6.Dalton

I learn valuable personality traits from all the movies, and all of the books (every author) I chose this order strictly because I get the most inspiration from the first three. They all certainly have their place in the films, but to me Craig, Brosnan, and Connery just completely nailed the role!

I believe that Moore is older than Connery, correct me if I'm wrong.

It would have been better if they would have gone for someone younger after DAF.

I'm getting deja vu but here goes:

Connery IS James Bond, also cracks me up that 'England's finest' is played by a Scotsman with a very Scottish accent!

    1.Connery
    2.Craig
    3.Brosnan

The rest are about equal for me.
