Anyone else notice how CR's opening and QOS's ending share similiar elements. such as Bond wearing a peacoat, weapon drawn, waiting in a dark room for his target to arrive (dryden or yusef and his girlfriend)in a winter enviroment (only time in both films Bond is in a snowy enviroment) and then have them unexpectedly notice him, have a small talk and in CR's case Bond kills him (becuase he had to) but in QOS he lets him live becuase he has evolved and doesnt just kill without reason now. i just thought it was interesting how the films showing Bond's evolution into who he his now that spanned two films opened and ended with similiarities.

Another reason to support that these 2 scenes show his evolution; in CR he is wearing a sweater and coat, more casual or more blunt, in QoS he's wearing a great suit and coat, or more finessed.
excellent point as well
There is a clear arc to the character through these two films, and IMRO it lays a very structurally sound foundation for the future.

"Your contact?" "Not well."
Don't Get Me Wrong I Still Don't Like QOS,And Because I've Never Watched It Again I've Never Picked Up On The Similar Elements,But Now I Feel There Was Some Thinking Behind The Story Line and The Emergance Of Bond As A "OO"
Far From Simply Dismissing QOS As A Bad Bond Film Im Now Going To Give It A Second Chance Get The DVD And Really Watch It, Who Knows It Might Grow On Me. ( Apart From The Editing,Which is AWFUL) {[]
great! glad to hear your giviing it a second chance!
But apparently you never warmed to DAF either, so maybe you're going to have to let some of them go by without liking them.;)
Even LTK When First Released I hated, Now It's One Of My Favorites So Theres Hope For QOS.
I noticed that the very first time I heard "Another Way to Die." I have seen the titles for Casino Royale that I would be daft to not recognize the similiarity between the openings. It's kind of like the beginnings of each Matrix movie where they are very much similar with only a key change note variance. While I'm not sure if the next Craig Bond picture will be a tie-in with the CR-QOS story or not, but it would be interesting to see if the song for the next movie again begins with a similar sound.
As for the original topic, most of what has been said I can fully agree with. I like how closely they mirror each other with only the turnout being different. CR sets up a man that could be Bond. QOS refines a man that is Bond. Execution of filming aside, I thought the story was brilliantly told. It was simple in all its complexity. I like it for that.
That's a perfect example of symbolism, I think my favorite symbolism shot is of Bond throwing Vesper's Algerian love knot on the ground it was a great way of showing everybody that Bond was over Vesper's death without actually saying anything.
"I admire your luck, Mister?..." "Bond, James Bond."
