TWINE: Seen as a Caricature by the cast?

I have been enjoying the special features on the ultimate edition DVD of The World Is Not Enough and have detected an undertone of disdain when Brosnan and other cast members talk about the film. Brosnan, especially in his Hong Kong interview, is quick to classify the film as "formulaic" and "repetitive". Though he has some great things to say about Renard, as "the best bad guy he's had" he's quick to demonstrate how un-serious the movie largely is.

I have always felt that The World Is Not Enough has been overshadowed in discussions of Brosnan's era by the generation-defining GoldenEye and the notorious way in which Die Another Day left its mark on the series. Given this, it was sad to hear that some of Brosnan's most concentrated comments on The World Is Not Enough were so mixed; especially when I consider it his best Bond film and one of the series best entries.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or do you disagree?

Well, in my own opinion, I feel Brosnan's 007 debut, in GE, was his high water mark in the role.

Actually, the Brozzer Bonds' ranking on my favourites list mirrors the order of their release...while many here are quite fond of TWINE (and there's much I enjoy about it as well), it seems that it's a good thing he didn't do a fifth, as the downward trend is unmistakable to my eyes.

TWINE, There's nothing wrong In Being formulaic so long as it's a good Formula and For the Most Part The Bonds Have Been Good.
Brosnan IMHO was a good Bond a sort off slightly more serious Roger Moore,But now that we Have D Craig to compare him to his Performance looks much weaker.
With TWINE I left the Cinema Disatisfied, The Boat Chase was Good Until they had it Aparently Rocket Powered Driving Along Streets.
D Richards Truly Unbeliveable, and a small claustrophobic Ending On a Sub.
With TWINE They Were Playing Safe at Least with QOS (which I Hate) They are Trying To Push The Series Along. IMHO TWINE is Brosnan's TMWTGG All The Elements Are There,..... They Just Don't Quite Work.

I remember that interview and Brosnan did look quite bored during it, but i can see where hes coming from with the "repetitive" comment, since its his third film and hes pretty much doing the same thing just a slightly different plot, which can be said for all Bond films really but Brosnans seemed more cookie cutter then most.

I think Brosnan was vocal about being frustrated in the role by this point... and was hankering after name directors rather than the odd choices Broccoli was making (and still does, now Craig has got past his 'GoldenEye' moment).

That said, I thought he would have like TWINE, his dialogue was better.
