What about Mr. White ?

Forgive me if a similar question has been asked. When QOS went into production I was under the impression that it was the second of three movie arc. Evidently that was not the case, so my question is: What about Mr. White, last I saw he was alive and kicking at the opera house when does Bond get to finish him off?

I had that impression too,Mabey Bond will get his revenge in the PTS of Bond 23.Or Mr White will prove to be a bigger fish in Quantum than first thought.Although as you say that dosen't seem to be the case now.Welcome to the forum tohmss007 {[]

unknown, but the triology idea has been dropped.

maybe white will return in the future.

quantum is the new spectre after all.

I expect to see more of Mr. White. While #23 won't be a third film in an 'arc,' I believe we can reasonably expect Quantum to be involved in whatever nefarious goal the villain of the piece is out to achieve...

Hopefully, at some point, Mr. White will come to a satisfying end :v

While maybe not officially a trilogy, I think it would be damn foolish to create a nefarious new global organization and then never refer back to it ever again. I think there's still meat in the Quantum freezer that needs thawing and cooking. I hope this is just the beginning of a new lease on the franchise with Quantum barking at Bond's heels.

Absolutely. I expect Quantum to be Craig's ongoing Bond Opponent for the duration of his tenure. There's a lot to be done there...

From what has been said in interviews, I get the feeling that CR and QOS dealt with the whole Vesper arc, so no need for a third "Vesper" themed film. But from the same interviews I get the impression that Quantum will be back. I hope so. I want to know what happens with Mr. White as well as Guy Haines. Haines is so set up in the middle of QOS that they must have had something in mind.

I for one think that Bond 23 should open with Mr. White walking somewhere where he feels safe. Maybe he just left a bank. Maybe he is in his villa or a park or something. The camera cuts to a pair of eyes following him, then pans out to see Mr. White alone.

Then out of nowhere we hear a voice; "The first thing you should know," (Cocking of a gun hammer) "is that we have people everywhere."

    Gun fires...

Scene cuts to Bond walking with a briefcase (same one as in CR), gets into his Aston Martin, calls M.

"Its done. I think they will get the message"

Camera cuts to Bonds eyes in the rear-view mirror.
    (Cue Opening Credits)

As you can tell I had fun with this hehe. But frankly I want them to tie up loose ends and move on. Quantum is a fine evil entity, but we need some fresh faces.

    I love that!
A short, punchy PTS that just ties up the loose ends. Then bring on Bond 23 without Mr White.
    Fabulous!!!

Good idea, but not for the Bond 23 PTS. I think mr White should be one of the top leaders of Quntum, if not the top leader. This should be established and milked before Bond kills him.

I don't want Mr. White to be the head honcho of Quantum as it kinda of diminishes them as a group and makes them less shadowy, but make him have a bigger role in Bond 23.

I personally hope they use the character of Mister White in many more movies to come.

Or leave Mr. White be. He's outsmarted and outwitted both Bond and MI6 so far. The good guys don't always win after all.

Perhaps...but I think they ultimately ought to---at least in a Bond film ;)

Thanks for all the responses. I know QUANTUM will be around for a while just like SPECTRE was at the start of the series. My brother informed me of reading somewhere that they did film Bond offing Mr. White in QOS, but these scenes never made it past editing. If so I guess the producers decided that the Bond/White conflict could run its course over a greater scope of movies. One must admit that the early Blofeld run help define the "Cinema Baddie".

What they can do to make the series interesting is to continue to change the dynamic of Quantum so that whenever MI6 think they're finally gaining some footing on taking down the organization, it's completely reformeda, heading in a new direction and performing just as much damage as always. That way you have a longevity in the villain and a fresh concept for each new installment. I just hope it won't get as convoluted as some of those Bad Robot productions. 8-)

Do you think Quantum have serious bases of operations. I know what we've seen of Quantum so far seems to be intentionally fragmented and behind seemingly legitimately business fronts, but I wonder when we'll return to the underground/underwater complexes with slanted walls.

    ... with slanted walls.

You just made me spit my Cheerios! :))

Never have a thought to refer to the evil lairs as places with slanted walls, but you are so right!

I too hope that Mr. White returns, since as QOS showed he was powerful enough for Quantum to expose their mole in MI6 to get him back.

Plus I am sure that the British government would like to get back the money from the game held at Casino Royale if possible.

Quantum is too decentralized to have a very big base of operations on a tropical island (inviting an air strike), but I always had in mind that Quantum would have several big bases of operations modelled upon MI6's headquarters only they're in underground nuclear bunkers (with slanted concrete walls of course) located beneath big corporate fronts.

Due to Quantum's nomadic, shadowy nature maybe Quantum could even have its own private navy of stealth ships and submarines if they have more resources than lone billionaire Elliot Carver, with mobile command centres on large aircraft (like Moon/Graves). Makes Quantum more like a superpower instead of a mere terrorist organization.

If they had those sorts of resources, I doubt they'd be meeting at opera houses.... 8-)

They're a organization of billionaires, they're syndicate who are possibly hundreds of years old and evaded world governments for that long, for all we know. Their meeting being hidden in plain sight at an opera house was for the sake of secrecy and convenience.

    Logistics.

That sub would have to sail around, picking everybody up and causing a security risk every time it emerges.

Best hide it in plain sight, and just as you can sometimes pretend to be listening while your wife is telling one of her stories, you would actually be watching the tv. Same here, but now you can enjoy the opera while some of the other members of your conspiratory group waffle on about Canada.

If the Quantum leadership convened in a conference chamber similar to the one featured in Thunderball, any compromise (like Bond tailing Greene) would lead to a swift and overwhelming police raid on the premises.

And a stealth boat or submarine could be sunk.

The opera house was a beautiful setting, it was reasonably secure due to the number of VIPs, Quantum agents could openly mingle with political/business stooges there, and the large crowds offered protection/concealment.
