Dr. No and JFK

We all know the fondness JFK had for 007 novels, even including "From Russia with Love" on his list of favorites. Of course that caused a spike in booksales, which in turn lead (directly or indirectly) to the movie series. Watching Dr. No today on Encore, I was struck by the resemblence between Jack Lord's Felix Leiter and John Kennedy. I mean, he could have been playing Kennedy. Has anyone else ever noticed that? Am I nuts? I wonder if there was any conscious attempt to pay homage to the President? Or was that just the look of the day?

I think its just the style, the grey suits slicked hair, I dont think Jack Lord looks too much like JFK. To me his smile makes him look lke Jack Nicholson.

I agree that Lord's resemblance is due to the styles of the times, but your point about JFK's close association with the Bond series has a lot of merit. Fleming and Kennedy even met for dinner, with Fleming joking about how JFK could deal with Castro (I believe this is included on one of the DVD editions, perhaps The Living Daylights's documentary on Ian Fleming?).
