Launching the captured soviet rocket in You Only Live Twice

I wonder... in the final scenes of the movie as they launch the soviet rocket back into space to intercept the American craft, don't they launch the rocket just as it was when they captured it? Keep in mind that a spaceship cannot be sent into orbit carrying all of its fuel, and thus parts of the rocket must be jettisoned as it makes its ascent. Now how did SPECTRE manage to re-launch the soviet capsule with no additional fuel tanks?

The Bond films sometimes fail on the science, as in DAF's lazer powered by a diamond which wouldn't work.In the case of YOLT I'd put it down to smply what looks best on screen and how big a rocket they can make to fit into the set,as it's a movie the visual aspect is one of the most important. As with some parts of the later RM Bonds i try not to think about them too much and just enjoy the movie.

Right... though the "crater" the SPECTRE base is in seems tall enough to be able to hold a full-size rocket and booster you see on a normal launch... they could have built an underground chamber to hold the bottom of the rocket if necessary. Then again its also easy to tell once the rocket reaches orbit the antequated 1966-era CGI technology where you see the rocket's boosters and later on a simulation of a volcano's lava flow.

I don't think the lazer was powered by diamonds, but the beam of light passes through the diamonds as an apature greater in clarity, therefore more powerful. Just as crap though, and probably wouldn't work like that anyway...
