I would love to see a Bond in summer season. Actually, QOS was supposed to be released on May 2, 2008 (EON and Sony announced officially in 2006). But shortly after the press release, Roger Mitchell decided to withdraw and they set a new date for November release.
You know, I hate to say it, but May is one of my least favourite times of the year from a cinematic point of view. During that time I'm working on essays, and so it's harder to perform my usual ritual when it comes to seeing *big films. I like to see big films on the weekend (ideally the Saturday night) of the first week of release. As such, I haven't even seen Wolverine yet. :o Anyway I've come to associate late November as the Bondian month. I have no other committments, and so I can book well in advance, knowing that I'll be able to see the Bond film in the time and fashion of my choosing. :D
Summer release would be challenging for them, but if they would be able to set a date in advance, earlier than any others, naturally other studios will avoid the date.
That would certainly help. If Bond 23 was the only big film realeased during May, then I could definitely arrange to see it in my favourite manner. However, it would still be easier for me if it was realeased either early in the year, mid-year (June or July) or near the end of the year. ;)

*Big as defined by how much I'm looking forward to it. Changeling, which is no blockbuster, was a big film for me in 2009.

And when they start not smiling back—that’s an earthquake. and then you get yourself a couple of spots on your hat, and you’re finished. Nobody dast blame this man. A salesman is got to dream, boy. It comes with the territory." Death of a Salesman
