According to news reports EON is set to make a new spy thriller, "Remote Control" and a redux of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" BEFORE turning out another Bond film. This could delay the next Bond until 2011!!!!

Looks like the "Dalton Syndrome", by the time EON starts to work on another oo7 epic, Danny Craig may not be interested or available - limiting another fine Bond to only two films.

Eon should have taken a page out of their own book and jammed on with a third DC Bond before taking an extended rest, like they did with the first three films back in the 1960's!!!

I predict this loss of momentum will be the end of the "Craig Era" .....

There is ZERO comparison between what happened after LTK and what's happening now. In 1989 EON became involved in a lawsuit that kept them from going ahead with another Bond film; by the time they were ready to make another one, Dalton's contract had expired and he didn't want to return. Today, EON has decided to expand beyond Bond and put out a couple of different movies, but Bond 23 is still in the pipeline. This will not be the first time three years have elapsed between Bond films, so don't panic.

I think it will allow them to involve a new plot and not build so much on the foundations set in CR and QOS.

Craig will be older and wiser as he is set for a few more films in between Bond 23 which would only hone his ability as an actor.

Also it will give him even longer to build on his body seeing as everyone will have high expectations after CR and QOS

I agree its a good thing.

Actors "locked into" a franchise can get frustrated if they cannot pursue other projects because of the time scales required for the filming. I seem to remeber Mr Brosnan favoring larger gaps between the Bond films as it gave him tome to do other things. - Which means he can appreciate Bond all the mor when he is playing him.

I don't; it's just an extra year---gives Craigger time to do another of those small, art-house pictures he enjoys so much---and he'll be fresh for another go-round as 007.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt...but I'm mildly concerned.

I think you were right Loeff, and if enough time elapses between films, I think Craig may find other more interesting projects, and his motivation to take on a large, time intensive film may wane.

I think 2011 is way too far off, and the series will loose the wonderful momentum the last two films brought on.

One more, then a rest .... would make more sense and money!!!

For EON to do other projects now seems crazy,QOS opened to mixed reviews and split the fans.If they had wanted to do something after CR I could understand, Great reviews and generaly regarded as one of the better Bond films.So I'm slightly worried for the future of Bond on hearing they are planing other projects,Bond might well end up as an occasional movie every three to four years whenever Eon needs a cash injection.With a new Bond every couple of films.:#

As much as I enjoyed QOS (but then Craig can do no wrong for me) for the visuals and action, it did seem that the characters and dialogue were underdeveloped and maybe this was a result of the race to production. Forster has said that filming began without a completed script. Perhaps an extra year would allow for a more creative storyline, but I would hate to lose Craig in the process. If it's 2011, then I plan to eat healthy, exercise, and take my vitamins so I'm still on the planet then!

It has never made sense to me that EON will undertake production of a Bond film without a script in hand.

The script is the most important element of a film, and should be completed before anything else. I'll wager that no matter how much lead time EON has they will continue to roll out a new production without a complete script, and Bond 23 will be no different.

I agree, they should have done it after CR when we are not captivated as much as now, when we want to know what Bond does next? After CR I thought the next film would not continue etc and just looked really forward to it but now that QOS finished in such a way that it leaves many avenues open for the next film I cannot wait until 2011.

Well, who knows? Three years might give em time to produce a great film; then again didn't work with DAD did it? QoS turned out such that you wonder how bad it was when Roger Mitchell bailed out of the project... I know the writer's strike kicked in preventing Haggis from touching it up, but even so you'd think it wouldn't need it with only a few weeks to go until shooting.

Probably to do with having Wade and Purvis' stuff need a rewrite, then the director pitching in etc. Takes longer that way.

BTW who hopes the new Chitty CBB isn't completely revamped like Lady Penelope's car in the Thunderbirds movie?

The dealy is a dissapointment. I would be happier if Eon's energy was not diluted by other projects and they used the time to really ensure that Bond 23 is the corker we all hope it will be. I have always felt that their MO is odd whereby no activity for ages and then a mad rush to cast, film, and release all in one year, orften with major decisions like Director and leading cast memebers very late indeed. I think that DC will stick around for 23 but predict that he will bail afterwards. Like Dalton, he is a serious actor who by then will have an association with Bond that is disproportinate to the number of films made.

By Dalton Syndrome I thought you meant a long hiatus between Bond films like what occured between License to Kill and Goldeneye.

I'm going to wait and see. I really can't see EON 'delaying' their greatest money-maker for a year, but who knows.

I like daneil craig as bond. I think he'll be "bond" for a few more flicks.

I don't think it will delay much. EON is a production company. A production company can produce many movies at the same time. Sometimes it even makes them better, gets the creativity flowing.
