Hey guys last night i watched Taken with liam neeson and the settings, France, Albania etc. Had what i felt to be an excellent setting for a bond movie, what are your thoughts on the settings for the new movie?

Central Europe has featured heavely in CR and QoS, and Asia has been completely absent. Hence Bond 23 should be partly set in Asia, perhaps on the Indian subcontinent?

I think it would be interesting to see a small portion of the film set in the Gulf, perhaps for a PTS.

I dont know why but I just think it would be kinda interesting, obviously not fighting alongside other military forces but something.

In another thread someone mentioned something based upon the Somali pirates as a PTS---Bond and his SBS mates retaking a freighter, perhaps...great potential there...

This thread has been done recently somewhere. However, I think Australia would be good and definately a first for Bond. Great scenery and wonderful light for cinematography and panning shots.
Indonesia would be good too - plenty of jungle, cliffs, beaches and volcanoes - as well as massive corruption and poverty.
South Africa would be interesting as well. Stunning views, great weather - and an ideal place for Quantum to operate amongst bribes and corruption...

Here is an interesting, fresh and very cinematic Middle east location: Shibam in Yemen. It is a square town with the worlds oldest "skyscrapers":

Since the Canadian Secret service was referenced in QofS, it would be good for Bond to do a stop off in Canada. Re Australia (which is a great idea) Another stopping point in my mind would be New Zealand. - A beautiful country, it would be nice to see it without it becoming Middle Earth, or Narnia but as itself! :D
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I like the location - but they'll only have Bond flying from roof to roof doing parquor again, and we can't have that three times in a row...

Baring in mind my first response, I belive Dubai would be a great location for Bond 23, have Bond mixing with the local billionaires, perhaps a boat chase over those mini islands that represent the countries of the world, with Bond battling it out over them with some bad guy and ending up on the island representing Britain where Bond kills him, makes witty quip then the titles roll...

I will be attacked here for not having an official interview or source for this, but I remember reading that Michael G. Wilson's wants to set the next Bond film in New York....

A topic was opened (and closed again) containing a link to Digital Spy claiming Afghanistan is a location in Bond 23.
I think it's a graet idea. The landscape is stunning, not everyone has been ther on last years holiday and it's dangerous!
Richard Maibaum Perhaps they should send 007 to asassinate someone?
What they shouldn't do is make Bond pretty much a part of the coalition forces, fight with them.
Assainating an afghan warlord who produces opium and is a governor in a province and/or minister in the government but now is planning to defect to the Taliban may work better. Make the asassination happen in northern Pakistan. The landscape is the same, local warlords and the Taliban rule and it's beter to send an agent in sted of soldiers.
    Still controversial stuff - I know 8-)

Well...as I've said elsewhere, Bond doesn't just travel to one place anymore ;) A plot with drugs as an element easily works in both Afghanistan and NYC...I've become convinced that 007 will be in New York for #23 :v

Maybe Boston or Philadelphia would have been a better choice, if they're looking for an n'eastern locale.

However, (personal bias aside) they should send him to the midwest :)

I like the Afghanistan idea, and could easily see our boy there - I also would love to see him, in total contrast, in Canada. Perhaps a visit up there once done in NY? :v

(Plus a free trip out to see my parents, who live in Canada, and perhaps a glimpse of the lovely man himself....plus the Winter Olympics are to be held in Vancouver next year, so it will be high profile, with perhaps some good opportunities?? )

Canada seems like a good choice. Funny how the only time Eon used it was to stand in as Austria for the PTS parachute jump TSWLM. I remember when my dad took me skiing in Whistler BC and I thought it would make a great location for a future Bond film. I would not mind seeing New York either if the rumors are true. Even if their is about 5 to 10 movies produced a year with New York as a location. Plus it would make up for the lackluster scenes of NYC that were in LALD, I remember thinking that for a movie that filmed in Manhatten even during the rough period of the 1970's you did not get the sense that it was poorly presneted when compared to say Japan in YOLT.

Canada is good location and has some weird, high-tech locations that turn up in Stargate SG-1 and many other sci-fi movies/shows, such as Simon Fraser University.

In 47 years, why has Bond still never gone to Australia? This must be done. Must must must must must. It's becoming almost embarassing that he's still never gone to that corner of the world.

somwhere with snow, craigs Bond has only been there briefly in CR's PTS and at the end of QOS.

Yeah, I'd like to see that too. At the risk of Craig's Bond being too young/modern/non-conformist, I'd like to see him snowboarding - being chased by people whilst carving massive plumes of snow in his wake...

I really doubt they will film in Afghanistan, the place is unsafe and can't offer even the smallest amenities that might be needed for a large scale production. What I could see them doing is shooting some exteriors of a barren forbidding location which would be juxtaposed to the fake Afghanistan location.

Bond went to Afghanistan* already in The Living Daylights, thought I have no problem with the producers reusing the same locations over again as long as it is not back to back in the films. I agree that is a shame that 007 has never been down under, maybe it is time at last for him to visit. Plus if I remember right filming there is pretty cheap since a number of major films have filmed there rather than in the US or England due to tax reason the five years or so.

*Morocco's deserts played Afghanistan here as the Soviet Union was still occupying Afghanistan until one year after the film had finished.

Why don´t send Bond to Stockholm? He has never been to Scandinavia before. After all, it was the hot place during WWII when it came to spies since Sweden was neutral. Flemming even mentions Sthlm several times in the novels (remember Bond had his first, or maybe second, kill in Sthlm).
I´d love this since I´m Swedish :D! Besides, I´m sure Bond could find some nice looking girlks here!
    Very handy...

They could always use Southend-On-Sea as a location for the next film. :D
