Filming YOLT before OHMSS was a mistake

Wouldn't you agree? I think it was the first misstep in the series. They could've done On Her Majesty's Secret Service with Sean Connery and after the tragic ending You Only Live Twice could've been the first revenge story in the franchise. By the time they did the revenge story in Licence to Kill the novelty of revenge in movies in general was wearing thin.

I think they should've waited a year to do OHMSS or they should've done Diamonds Are Forever sooner. If they couldn't wait to do OHMSS they could've filmed DAF in 1966 and they could've shot the ending of Tiffany Case leaving Bond.

I agree, if Daf was made in 1967 as a more faithful adaptation then the Blofeld spectre story could have been finished properly. Lazenby could have developed in the role more if he did another film. A faithful version of YOLT would have been good.

We musn't forget that at the time they were only thinking of the next movie, no more than that.

It was completely unheard of for a movie franchise to run this long.

What always cracks me up though, are the references to FRWL at the beginning of Dr. No, just like in the book... :D

I too wish they had of been filmed in order,Blofeld not knowing Bond in OHMSS is a little silly, but as a Bond fan you get used to ignoring some plot details that don't quite pan out. Then again producers just want to make money so what ever title looks to be popular or trendy will be filmed, just look at the new Angels & Deamons movie made after the Davinci Code But it's the preceding Book.

I just wanted to see Sean Connery in a Bond film that ended on a tragic note but I guess the producers didn't have any faith in him. They probably didn't think Connery could do an emotional scene.

It might have been that he didn't want to. He's never been the most experimental of stars, and he was arguably at his most experimental during the 70's and early 80's. While I have every faith that he was capable of executing such a scene, I don't think he would have been interested during the 60's, as it could potentially have threatened his star stautus.

I think given that Connery almost sleep walked through YOLT and seemed borded with DAF IMHO I don't think he would of made a better job than GL in OHMSS,I wish George had stayed around a little longer I think DAF would of been a better film.

I think given that Connery almost sleep walked through YOLT and seemed bored with DAF in my humble opinion I don't think he would've done a better job than George Lazenby in OHMSS, I wish George had stayed around a little longer I think DAF would of been a better film.

I'm not talking about Lazenby's performance in OHMSS I'm talking about EON Productions filming OHMSS and YOLT out of sequence. Then they took DAF and pretty much rewrote the whole damn thing!

I loved Connery's performance in DAF. :D It's an extremely flawed film, but IMO its performances (particularly from Connery and Bruce Glover & Putter Smith) are magnificent.

{[] IMO its one of his best performances, he doesnt look bored like he did in TB and YOLT too. Albeit a pretty poor Bond film its good for a laugh.

Especailly the scene where he is pretend kissing outside the apartment.
