Bit of fun - Silly Bond suggestions.

Just thought I'd have a bit of fun while the kettle boils.
I very much doubt this thread will last long, but who knows? Stranger things have happened.

Let's hear some outright RIDICULOUS suggestions for actors to play James Bond in the future... BUT (the important bit) you have to put in at least some sort of justification (tongue in cheek or not) for your Bad Bond.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Samuel L. Jackson. Who said Bond had to be white? It's about time that the producers moved with the times and hired a black actor to play Bond. Who better to play the world's coolest secret agent than the king of cool himself, Samuel L. Jackson! :D

He could sing the theme song whilst shooting bad guys at the same time.

    Me, of cource!
I'm not british, but neither was Lazenby. Martin Campbell even wanted an croatioan ... :#
I'm not an actor, but I would like to remind you of Lazenby again.
I can't do action, but that worked well for Moore.

But I am 38, 6'2'', 185 lbs and I have dark hair and blue/grey eyes.

Finally it can be said: the producers wanted me - not Craig - but my mum wouldn't let me. :(

    P. Diddy for Bond.... I'm sure that wouldn't be a disaster....

No, I don't agree. I think that Brosnan, on his worst day, was double the Bond that Craig is, on Craig's best day.

I don't agree. I think Brosnan should not have been considered. Daniel Craig felt like an apology from the producers, for nearly ruining Bond with Brosnan.... Oh jeez, that Brosnan thing. So sorry, here's a real Bond now. Sorry about that Brosnan moment....

Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but I don't agree. I don't think that the producers were ever apologising for Brosnan; why would they have made four films with him? Furthermore, Craig has never struck me a real Bond; Brosnan was IMO the last real Bond. If the producers should apologise for anyone, I think it should be the disaster that is Daniel Craig.

Dawn French plays 'Jane Bond', the bond girl is Jo Brand (lesbian affair), M is played by Kelsey Grammar, Q played by Jack Nicholson, and the villain is an animated kangaroo.

They made a lot of films with all the actor they get, no matter who they be. So far, the only ones who have done under for, both chose not to do more themselves. Brosnan never struck me as a real Bond. Connery was a real Bond, Dalton was a real Bond, then Craig. Brosnan is the Bond for the gamer generation. Also, Craig can actually perform and act, which is something Brosnan has never been good with. It felt like Daniel Craig was an apology for Brosnan, and the film 'Casino Royale' was an apology for 'Die Another Day.'

We'll never agree on this, and are going around in circles, so we should probably agree to disagree. Nonetheless it doesn't matter to me how many fillms Brosnan made in relation to other actors and why he left. I don't think that Craig was an apology for Brosnan, and I don't think that CR was an apology for DAD, although it was a reaction to it. Brosnan, like Connery and Moore, is more of a real Bond to me than either Dalton or Craig, and I don't play video games, so the comment that he is is 'the Bond for the gamer generation' is nonsence. I also think that Brosnan can act extremely well and acted and performed as Bond much better than Craig does; I loved all of Brosnan's Bond performances, while both of Craig's performances were incredibly one-dimensional and enormously unimpressive.

    The more things change...

But yes. Even after the last two 'disastrous' pictures brought in a paltry $1.1 billion in box office sales, bringing Brozzer back is a silly Bond suggestion.

I'm not asking anyone to agree on anything. Yes, his Craig felt like an apology for Brosnan, and Royale felt like an apology for Die Another Day. Craig, like Connery or Dalton, was more of how a real Bond should be. Also, the fact that you don't play games and like him, doesn't change the fact that the gamer generation has, and most likely always will sway towards Brosnan. I don't think Brosnan acts well, and I've been rewatching many of the films he's done, and I still don't think he's much of an actor to begin with. I hated all of Bond's performance, except for "The Matador," where Brosnan didn't sway to much from how he played Bond, but at least it was the character for that film. Both Craig's performances actually called for real acting to take place, instead of say the name, ask for a drink, and smile for the camera.

Well, I don't agree. Craig and CR did not feel like an apology to me for anything. Connery, Moore and Brosnan, were to me more of how a real Bond should be than either Dalton or Craig. I think that Brosnan's Bond performances were vastly superior to Craig's, and in terms of real acting, again, I think that Brosnan's performances called for real acting mre than Craig's. An example; DAD. Although I hated the screeenplays to CR and QOS, I don't think that Craig was able to surpass the horrors of the screenplays. IMO Brosnan surpassed the horror of the screenplay that was DAD, and produced one of the greatest Bond performances of all time. Finally as for the gamer generation, it doesn't concern me whether the game generation prefers Brosnan or not. If you think it's an insult, well, then it's not much of one.

P.S. I don't determine the quality of a film, or its star's performance, by the box office.

One should certainly not cite box office as prima facie evidence of quality, in and of itself---otherwise, MR (which seemed to incorporate every silly Bond suggestion of its era!), the biggest ticket-seller ever at that point, would be considered a flawless film...but undeniable financial success does seem to argue effectively against the notion of a film being a 'disaster.' In that sense, MR was no disaster...and neither were CR or QoS.

When I use the word 'disaster' I am using it strictly in an artistic sense. CR/QOS were huge, but that does not change my view that artistically Craig is a disaster.
