Had some Chorizo left so made this quick and easy pasta dish (well, you're supposed to use gnocchi - but I didn't have any floury potatoes...and you need those to make proper gnocchi :D ) Gently fry an onion, chorizo, black olives sliced, a good splash of balsamic vinegar, then add frozen peas (you can use broad beans, which give it a much meatier texture) - sauté for 5 mins, then add 2 TBsp of crème fraiche (or sour cream) season, and cook for a few minutes. Then add either spinach or rocket (or watercress for an extra sharp pang). Stir till wilted.

Cook pasta (or gnocchi) until al dente, and add to chorizo mixture - delicious! :D

A two pound slice of rump steak, marinated and spiced, cooked medium-rare on the barbie. A two-foot french stick with butter. Fried onions and a bottle of ketchup. Yeah, the wife's out tonight...

I used to work in a restaraunt with an italian chef, he used to whip up gnocchi at a moments notice - served with really creamy blue cheese sauce - bad for my waistline too :))

Now my brother lives there, (has for 5 years) so reminded me of the recipe, simple as, but so good!

Just have to stay away from the blue cheese sauce! :D

Thanks Mr Martini and also to your butcher. I'll try this as soon as the rain is over and let you know.

    :007)

short update: Made today Spare ribs and bbq'ed them for 4 1/2 hours according the instructions.

The result was similar like on the previous attempts with 2 hours, but unfortunately not "falling from the bone".

Next weekend, I'll try out something, which has been told me by a german food magazine:

Fresh pineapple contents an enzyme called "Bromelain" which is a natural meat-tenderizer.

I'll cut a fresh pineapple and mousse it and marinate the ribs for some hours with the mousse. Then I'll try the 4-hours thing again.

    Keep you updated

Well, at least you tried. Sorry it didn't work out that well. Hopefully the food magazine tip works better. Good luck.

Last night, at the Route 66 Drive-In Theatre, for the screening of Night at the Museum 2 and Terminator: Salvation, the boys and I had two very excellent homemade pizzas---one of the best parts about our fantastic drive-in. One just sausage...the other sausage, bacon and pepperoni :) A hearty salute to those pigs who gave their lives for our nourishment... B-)

haha I'm not a big burger person either...mom's are really the only one's I'll eat anymore.

dunno what's REALLY for dinner, but I plan to finish this beet salad I made last night. Baby spinach, boiled beets, red onions, feta cheese and my own special vinaigrette dressing. Goooooood stuff :D Hopefully there's something alcoholic in the fridge as well. I've not had the best last couple hours, and beer sounds REALLY good right now.

For those interested i ate it whilst sitting with me dad, watching Bread and The New Statesman. I then went for a walk for an hour, trespassing on a building site and climbing over the fences of unsold homes so i could walk in the fields behind :D

After about 30 minutes of searching for a Pork ribs recipe I liked I gave up and winged it.

Bring water to a boil, add salt, pepper, garlic and ribs. Boil for one hour remove from stove and let sit in the refrigerator overnight.

Heat grill, then with a soft cloth soaked with vegetable oil coat the grill to prevent sticking. Add ribs cook at about 300 degrees for 20 minutes turning often, add Bar-B-Que sauce and cook for an additional 15 minutes.

The meat was so tender and juicy it barely stayed on the bone. Best ribs I ever had!
