From watching The Goodies as a kid to his appearances on BBC radio 4 " I'm sorry
I haven't a clue " I've been a big fan of Tim Brooke-Taylor for years. So sad to
Learn we've lost another great comedy talent. RIP Tim Brooke-Taylor.

    I’m saddened to hear of the death of Tim Brooke-Taylor. Loved him in The Goodies and he was a co-writer of the famous Four Yorkshire Men sketch…never given the recognition he deserved...RIP -{

    RIP Mort Drucker
    1929 - 2020

Cartoonist for MAD magazine, he drew most of the movie parodies, was a flawless caricaturist and filled his panels with loads of silly details you had to examine closely to appreciate.
There's still many movies I've never actually seen, but I can bluff my way through conversations with real film buffs because I read Drucker's MAD magazine parodies and therefor know most of the plot.

He drew four parodies of our Bond films, scans of which I linked to way back in this post

He was in At Last the 1948 Show, making him an almost-Python.
It was actually watching those 1948 Shows I really appreciated his talent, he was an incredible physical comedian, almost a dancer how precisely he choreographed his movements.
Also in the proto-Python tv special How to Irritate People

the Goodies were awesome, we used to watch the show after school. Of all the British comedies that got imported here that weren't actually Monty Python, the Goodies were by far the best. They seemed rather subversive for a kids show, especially Bill Oddie.

Brian Dennehy has died aged 81, RIP, perhaps best known as Stallone’s cop nemesis in First Blood but also in the FX movies.

Brian Dennehy was a great character actor--he could be villains or sweet avuncular figures, he could be in comedy or drama. . .he was sort of the American Brian Blessed. RIP.

So superb in First Blood, maybe wrong to say he made that film, but really, if ever a film needs a great villain... Yet of course, he wasn't really a conventional villain, being the sheriff. If he'd been Pepper in LALD you wouldn't have fancied Bond's chances....

I couldn’t agree more. Some entertainers are truly one of a kind, and he fit that bill.

Didn't realise he'd done so many. Long Tall Sally is great of course, I mean I love The Beatles' version.

    Lennon did some covers too.

Only Jerry Lee Lewis left of the originals, surely?

Can anyone recommend a great rock n roll compilation vinyl album with Lee Lewis, Presley, Berry, Little Richard and Buddy Holly? It does seem they've been overlooked of late in the digital era. But their songs were great - I mean Chuck Berry had great lyrics and everything.

Astrid Kerchherr - the woman who helped create The Beatles.

Her chum went on to design the cover to Revolver, played bass on the Plastic Ono Band AND produced no 1 hit Da Da Da by Trio.

She created the Beatles haircut and that slightly chic European feel that gave the Beatles the edge when they returned from Hamburg. Took great photos too.

Michael Angelis, superb as Chrissy in Boys from the Blackstuff, has died suddenly. He also took over from Ringo Starr as the narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine, RIP.

Denny O’Neill has passed away. He was a famed writer for DC comics, penning substantial runs on the Batman and Green Lantern series. He also wrote the popular Superman vs. Muhammad Ali one-shot issue.

RIP to Denny O'Neill, as I comic book reader I have read quite a few of his Batman stories growing and I really enjoyed them. He also worked for Marvel for time writing Spider-Man(another superhero whose adventures I enjoy reading) and other titles before returning to DC. Defiantly going to check out the Superman vs Muhammad Ali one shot in the near future.
