I had the good fortune to see Richard Briers in the London stage version of Run For Your Wife in the early 1980's. He was a wonderful comic actor. The Good Life was a classic TV comedy series, great writing, a great cast, and great acting. Briers was also in top form as the rather boring Martin in another very popular TV comedy series Ever Decreasing Circles. -{

Should hasten to add, I'm referring to the new filmRun for Your Wife, universally panned over the weekend and starring Danny Dyer, Neil Morrissey and - ahem - our very own Dame Judi.
Ray Cusick, creator of the Daleks, has died aged 84. Doctor Who actor and writer Mark Gatiss tweeted: "Farewell to the great Ray Cusick. His passing is especially sad in this anniversary year but his creation remains immortal. Daleks forever!"

It's most interesting that in John Gardner's Never Send Flowers (1993), the villain of the piece, the ex-actor turned serial killer first meets James Bond and Flicka von Grusse while dressed as Richard III, as his sister Maeve Horton paints him in his classic roles for his theatre museum. Give it a read. "Richard's himself Again" is even a chapter title in the novel.
So there's a nice little unexpected link with the literary James Bond...the ubiquity of James Bond if ever there was such a thing, surely?

Yeah, a long-lasting character actor. Peacock was his defining role, but he popped up in all kinds of films. Though I must say I may be confusing him with John Le Mesurier, who had a similar ratio of TV 1970s smash and bit movie parts.
His last movie was the dismal Run for Your Wife, which the late Richard Briers was also in.

It is with such sorrow that I have to tell you that my beloved husband died at 19.50 on the 22 March. He was surrounded by his family telling him how much we loved him. His two year battle against cancer is over, he is at peace but we shall miss him so very much. His courage and strength over the past years have been an inspiration to everyone he met, and his music will live on for his future generations.
Actor Richard Griffiths has died aged 65. He enjoyed a long and successful career on stage, film and TV. Griffiths was perhaps best known for playing Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter films. He received an OBE in 2008.
Really sad to hear about the Death of Richard Griffiths.
A talented actor and brilliant at comedy roles.

Sorry to hear about Frank Thorton passing, still 92 years old is a long and full life. I remember watching reruns of "Are You Being Served?" on PBS and BBC America and laughing histericaly at the antics of the Grace Brothers department store staff. Next to Mr. Lucas, Captain Stephen Peacock was my second favorite character on the show and I loved how well he could handle the numerous situations the staff often found themselves in.
She's getting not quite a state funeral but near enough, it seems. The one the Queen Mother and Princess Diana got.

Sad news indeed to hear of the passing of the Iron Lady. Although I hold conservative and unionist views politically, have to say I'm much more a One Nation Tory of the Macmillan and Douglas-Home premierships than a Thatcherite. AsHarold Macmillan said she sold off the family silver or words to that effect. Still, she was a remarkable woman of great political veracity and she implemented followed her political beliefs to the last. We are all children of Thatcher and modern Britain is Thatcher's Britain.

Yeah, alright, no need to crib off Andrew Marr's tribute!
Mind you, he got done for plagarism himself I believe.
Well, I agree with the sentiment and thought that it was worth repeating as a tribute to Margaret Thatcher. If you want originality and not plagiarism, see my The Bondologist Blog!

Only Mr Rumbold, the bald, slightly startled manager, remains.
