I just read of Patrick Macnee's passing. Really sad to be reading this as he was an actor I enjoyed watching since childhood. He was 93 and lived a full and amazing life. RIP.
Saddened to learn of the death today of Sir Nicolas Winton. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-33350880
He saved hundreds of Jewish children before WW2, and never spoke about it
until in the late 80s his wife found some old papers describing what he's done.
I'm not religious but if there is a place for all the good guys to go, his place is
Most definitely assured.

Yes, very sad indeed. He was rewarded with a good long life at least.

The news has come out that Omar Sharif has died. He was one of the iconic actors of the 1960s and always did fine work. It was also announced a couple of months ago that he had Alzheimers. . .at least he went in the early stages of this awful disease (my maternal grandmother had it) when he still had a sense of who he was. RIP.
Theodore Bikel has died at 91. He was a terrific actor who had plum roles in The African Queen, The Defiant Ones, and My Fair Lady; he was the original Captain von Trapp on Broadway in The Sound of Music; and. . .he was on the short list to play Auric Goldfinger--you can see his screen test on the DVD. Rest in peace.
Today it's four years ago the horrible terrorist attacks in Oslo and Utøya. I wish to honour and remember the victims, their families and the survivors. The heart-like shape of the island has become one of the symbols of the tragedy and our sorrow.

Sad to read of Theodore Bikel's death - he was also in a great episode of Columbo called The Bye-Bye Sky High I.Q. Murder Case!
Sad also to hear of the death (aged 84) of the author, editor and professor E.L. Doctorow. He was Ian Fleming's American editor towards the end of the Bond novels.
