I was pole axed to read Cilla Black's gone.
She was wonderful on Blind Date, but the series I will remember her best for was Surprise Surprise, which she presented with support from Bob Carolgees and Krypton Factor presenter Gordon Burns. Cilla was the star turn, but she ensured the people the programme helped and surprised were always at the centre of the show each week.
I was also saddened to learn of Theodore Bikel. In Sci Fi he turned up in Babylon 5 and played a wonderfully funny and touching turn in Star Trek The Next Generation as Worf's adoptive Dad.
My condolences to their families, and to those of everyone listed who we have lost.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

It is eight years ago today (3 August 2007) that John Gardner passed away (aged 80) while out shopping. May we as a Bond community never forget him.

I was sad to read of the death (in The Times) of the historian, author and poet Robert (Bob) Conquest, who was a good friend of Bond author and expert Sir Kingsley Amis. In fact Amis dedicated The James Bond Dossier "To CAROLEEN & BOB CONQUEST". Amis also wrote the novel The Egyptologists with Bob Conquest. Bob Conquest died at the grand old age of 98.

RIP Stephen Lewis - he's off to get Butler on that big bus in the sky.... -{
Going back to Stephen Lewis aka Blakey off On the Buses...
Read in his Obit that he actually wrote the stage play Sparrows Can't Sing, later made into a hit movie with Barbara Windsor and James Booth and set in East London. A big favourite with my mother, though it is another one of those movies that just never get shown on telly these days.
It's amazing when you find out these actors have another string to their bow and are often more than they let on, like the actor who played Zorin's father in AVTAK. Ditto Carry On star Jim Dale, as it was revealed during publicity for his one-man show, that he wrote the song Georgy Girl for the film of the same name, and performed by The Seekers. It won an Oscar.
Also, Pvt Godfrey from Dad's Army wrote that classic ghost train play...
Very sad news about Wes Craven. He's directed four of my favourite horror movies (Elm Street, New Nightmare, Scream and Scream 2). Sad day for horror genre.

+1. She played Mr Waverly's niece, Maud, in the UNCLE movie 'One Spy Too Many' and in one of the episodes too. A beauty -sad to hear of her passing.
