Not only have we lost Jerry Lewis, but another great comedian as well--Dick Gregory, who died at 84. Before Richard Pryor came on the scene, there was Gregory talking about racism and using comedy to raise consciousness. RIP to them both.
Shame, I liked a lot of his work. Have just been writing about Lifeforce, his great forgotten 80s SF horror epic. Stiffed at the box office but it's *really* good.
I met Hooper last month in London , he looked kinda frail , nice man
Yes, I missed him at the con, went over to his queue about 2-3pm but was told he was on lunch break and got varying estimates of when he would be back, so decided to give him a miss... regret that decision now...

Its always something , the guest leaves early , the guest gets sick , the guest dies (the latter should be valid enough excuse to miss a con I would think , holy sarcasm).......never a sure thing to go to cons , always a gamble.
I gave up on Stamp , feared Id have to wait hrs , shouldve done pre order.......
Sad news for the Bond community: Bernie Casey, the American pro football player who became an actor--and who was Felix Leiter in Never Say Never Again--has died at the age of 78. RIP.
That's really sad to hear, I know our friend and long-time member BlackLeiter has Bernie as his avatar and will also be sad to hear this news. I also loved Bernie in The Martian Chronicles based on the Ray Bradbury short stories. RIP.

You are so right my friend. The original Blackleiter is dead. RIP Bernie. You were a class act and a wonderful addition to the world of Bond. -{

Tony Booth was great as Alf Garnett's foil in the 60s sitcom. (It was remade in the States with Archie Bunker.) That said, Garnett had the better lines, while Booth only got to say 'Ah, come on!'
Wish they'd repeat it, maybe late night on BBC4 to show they're not racist but ironic and knowing about it - like an opium den for respected elder gentlemen or something.
The Monkees wrote their song having heard Alf berate his son in law in such terms.
RIP also to "our Vera", Liz Dawn who played Vera Duckworth for ages on Coronation Street.

Sad news about Frank Vincent too - I've never looked at a baseball bat the same way since Casino!
