I feel unmoved since the King of Pop essentially died 1988. After that it was a decades long descent into the Uncanny Valley and a deep insanty that made Emperor Bokassa look well adjusted. It not that I wished him dead, but his death feels like a release. I feel sorry for his children and some of his other family members, but the King of Pop had completely lost his marbles and his humanity.
And here is rather creepy footage of Michael Jackson rehearsing. Comparing Jackson in that video to what he was in 1982, 1992 or even 2002, he looked in a terrible state and just didn't have it anymore; the support dancers seemed to be reigned in so as to not outpace him. He would've been a pathetic laughing stock, what kinda suckers booked the O2 tickets with a straight face?!

I have to say I don't feel the need to reconvene with his music, and I don't feel personal loss because MJ never really gave personal interviews or opened up much. He seemed to want to put a barrier between him and the public, or to act as a tease, the result being that you either hero worship him or not at all, a bit like Princess Diana in that respect.
After Thriller I think his songs became joyless, even when good - the tracks on Bad for instance. Then again, that was the late 1980s, a desert for pop music with only Madonna and the Pet Shop Boys offering some release in the UK from Stock Aitken and Waterman. As for the rehearsal footage, I don't know. It's only a rehearsal after all, but it seems to be cutting it a bit fine to be in that state so late in the day.
Will say his videos don't enhance his music much imo, they tend to have to have him dancing a lot so it all runs to a formula really.
