The Ed Maggiani Collection

What a way to spend an afternoon! Joe Darlington and I took a ride down to Ed Maggiani's home to see his incredible Bond collection. Ed, as most of you know, was collecting Bond since his debut in the movies and it shows! His knowledge and his collection are unrivaled...here are some pics of the fun. Thanks Ed!

Very nice collection Ed has there, looks like you had great fun looking through all that stuff. The 5th from the bottom looks like a Prop pipe from Cheech and Chong :s :D

Yep, Ed has a fantastic collection of Bond props and stuff. His first hand photographs of the props owned by EON that were taken when he visited there is worth the trip alone. He also has a magnificent book and magazine collection as well as an amazing array of props from other movies, not to mention action figures. Beyond that, Ed is a genuinely nice guy too who has helped many a friend. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately these gatherings are quite small, but certainly quality over quantity as far as good people...but I agree its a shame we don't have a map of collectors like some collector societies have...would be fun to do regional Bond events!

Is the (Little Nellie) helmet original or a copy?
  • thespyboys11thespyboys11 Lindenwold,NJPosts: 1,894MI6 Agent
    Hi all....
    Glad everyone enjoyed the pics.

I truly wish you could all have been there. Afterall, what's the fun of having "cool" stuff if we can't share enjoying it.

Unfortunetly, I wasn't able to display all my other items as they were packed away and I didn't have time to get them unpacked before David & Joe got there....Oh well, something else to show the next time we can get together.

In answer to the above post....the Little Nellie helmet is a replica. The original screen-used helmet was stolen from Cmdr. Ken Wallis when it was on display in France. My replica is the same model helmet as well as the correct camera lens. Still need to make the cine cam.

Some of my other Bond props are in my photobucket at:

Anytime any of you are in my area please feel free to contact me for a visit as I extend an invitation to you all.

    OH....Christof,
The wonderful Detonite replica you made was one of the items I mentioned as being packed away. Look to your mail soon for something I promised to send you.

I have a question for either Ed or David, Do you know a good source for the Vega 339 holster as featured in Casino Royale?

I have been looking for one for some time to put my airsoft P99 in for display purposes.
  • The Bond ExperienceThe Bond Experience Newtown, PAPosts: 5,490Quartermasters
Ed can be reached at thefudds@aol.com and is the BEST source for these things...my collection would be thin without him.
  • thespyboys11thespyboys11 Lindenwold,NJPosts: 1,894MI6 Agent
The Vega holster has gotten VERY hard to obtain. I think we (Bond collectors) raised the companys stock values as we all bought them as soon as we found out they were used in CR.
I know several companies that sold them had a 2 week waiting period before they could get their orders filled. I would say that ebay might be the best way to go and even then...expect to pay a high price.
