How can I enable Private Messaging for myself?

I've tried to figure it out but I can't see how to arrange it so others can send me Private Messages. What's the story behind it please?

I can see the PM icon near your post. Just like you can everyone elses. You should be able to see mine on the bottom of my post, left side. You can't see it because you can't private message yourself.
