Yep very nice. I have two resin ones with spring loaded slide. The idea was to use one as a guide for an all steel or aluminum one. Can you make more? If not, I'll approach someone on the RPF.

fantastic work.. realy well done ..

    Top marks OO7 ... :007)

that is a truly nice display item....

you could obtain the same brand of shoes Connery wore in GOLDFINGER.. and modify a slide and compartment.. into it .. for storing the little gold homing device..

    Once again .. great work

Sorry, I am not selling the small one.
Kingego is selling them. I bought several objects from him in the past and they were all OK :) .
Other people seem to have less good experiences with the guy :( ... I don't know ?:)

Wow, can't believe you are parting with it. But I suppose you can always build another if the urge moves you. It's a great piece. Good luck witht the auction, a nice piece that's begging to be in my collection.

    DG

Edit: Is it steel or aluminium

It is made from aluminium. Steel would have been too havy. Weight of the current piece is already 500gr!

Just received mine in the mail! Pictures do NOT do this justice. The piece is well made and the working mechanism is extraordinary. Makes the same spring movement and sound as in the movie. The heft is what really gets you, very substantial...the workmanship is flawless, smooth to the touch and the ridges are pronounced and detailed to perfection.

I have to say this is one of the best prop replicas I have received in a VERY VERY long time. Will look incredible in the Goldfinger section next to its little brother.

  • KleynenKleynen BelgiumPosts: 396MI6 Agent
Yes dude, sold for 200 bucks! :007)
Considering the amount of work I had to design, machine and assemble, it is cheap.
People very often forget how much time is needed to create something accurate and unique.
I believe fellow prop-makers will agree...

Im sure DG will be very HAPPY with it :D .

Take no notice of old Beachy there, he has no idea about these things :v time ,research, skill. time, as they say time is money :D

btw i am in no way a prop builder, just collect them, I have my own personal Q and know the time he puts in and the skill involed.

i can utterly totally sympathise with you.

imo as a modelmaker, i can personally say $200 is a real good bargain. even the simplest of gadgets take ages to research and design, and then ya gotta build the damn thing!

well done kleynen, you did a great job with the homer, look forward to seeing more of your work.

as for my stuff, patience precious, patience. :))

While, at first, it might seem expensive. The amount of time spent doing the research to create a prop can be VERY time consuming. Remember that in some cases the propmaker has to sometimes reverse engineer the object to be replicated.
Take for example, Steve's (SD Studios) Golden gun. Steve had to design how it would assemble as well as come apart and still retain the look of the film used prop. This was done strictly through the use of stills, posters and watching the film. The amount of time drawing up blueprints, having the pieces machined, gold-plated, packaging, etc, etc, etc. LOT OF WORK!!!
The few props I've made are sometimes labor intensive and take many hours to get right.
I believe the original replica of this unit was first offered on ebay as a resin kit and was about the same amount.
Christof has taken it to the next level by making it out of aluminum while still retaining the functionality of the prop as seen in the film. I applaud him for his efforts. Well done!!!!

Does anyone know what happened to the originals?
  • thespyboys11thespyboys11 Lindenwold,NJPosts: 1,894MI6 Agent
    AMAZING WORK!!!

The fact that it's magnetic is even more amazing!!!

The duplication and emulation of the Ken Adams-style drawing bring out the appeal of the prop.

Hard to believe that a simple square piece of metal can generate this much interest...LOL
Anyone should be proud to add this magnificent replica to their collection. It's probably as close to the original as we will ever see.

WMSI...all I can tell you is that I never saw it when I was in the archives. Unfortunately, I think most of the earlier Connery-era props were not kept, given away, walked off the set, etc.
Back in those days props were not considered valuable or worth keeping and preserving.
It was just a "vehicle" to help move the film along.

That is why it is up to us "Prop Duplicators" to attempt to replicate those items we all saw on film and think "WOW. I wish I had one of THOSE!!"

    Again, nice work!!!
