The Stock replica I am making .. even has a replicated and sourced wood grain .. I am looking forward to it going into this .. car.. and will hopefully see the car in the flesh some day .. when it goes on tour..

Just came from your website and was surprised to see you already had the photo I posted above. Well, here’s a better shot taken from the 007 Archive Book you can use to replace the existing one Mick sent you.
This screen capture shows the props as we saw it on film…
…HOWEVER, if you look closely you’ll see that the silencer has been replaced!!!
Compare the close-up photo of the one in the archive photo to the close-up of the screen capture shown further below.
I suspect the original was “borrowed” needed to be replaced for this photo session.
I think the suppressor, made by (SF Restorer – The Stable) is VERY close to the original prop “silencer” we see on screen.
I would suggest that you request the knurling be moved further back the main body tube.
As It is too close to the edge unlike the prop.
I photoshopped the photo below to show how it would better match the screen version with the knurling moved further back.
By the way, should a corrected replica prop silencer be made available I know I, as well as others, would be interested in adding it to our collections (even if we don’t have an Aston Martin to put it into…LOL)

I just noticed that the threaded end is also too close to the end. I believe that it should also be extended to better match the film prop.

I enlarged the gun portions of the photo as I could not see any telltale signs of there being any knurling on the front section of the body of the silencer so as to match the prop to the one in the glove box in OHMSS.
Do you have higher resolution photos you can share to confirm this?
By the way, I purposely altered the face in the photo as I believe we cannot post images from the films.

i wish i saved the images.. of an eBay sale from years back .. when this actual gun with silencer.. came up for sale or is was a cast copy.. for sale alongside.. a few other Prop guns from OHMSS ..

i know there was a deleted scene .. where Bond chases a SPECTRE spy from the college of arms to a near by train station .. where he kills him... maybe the silenced PPK was intended for use in this scene.. possible.. just a guess tho.

I was sure .. that it was the same one in the glove box but as you pointed out the knurling .. that means it is most likely a different silencer.. but i think over all its the same size and style and shape in all cases.. Lazenby , connery and Glovebox.. only the glove box one features the knurling effect on the tip.
OK...now I understand what you ment. There's a saying here in the States "Put your brain in gear before you put your mouth in motion" LOL, trust me...I'm NOT saying that to be nasty.

I believe what you fellows see as knurling on the silencer is in fact a shadow from one of the scope's adjustment nobs. The "knurling" is a crosshatched diamond pattern, and would have scattered and reflected more light.
Now the top picture in the post of EON's glove box set-up is only half there on my computer screen, so I can't see the "silencer" in that image.
Reminds me of the discussion over the colors on Bond's nylon watchband.....
so i could be right after all .. its the same silencer in the glove box.. as on the ppk in lazenby and connery's hands..

but there is some other angles of the glove box silencer which shows it knurled..

NOPE...the light source is that circle of light you see at the left of the photo. There also appears to be a light souce coming from above. Also, there is no trailing shadow from the silencer back to the adjustment knob.
While you MAY be right...I stand by my original statement that the dark area is the knurling machined unto the body of the silencer.
This photo is too small and grainy, as a screen capture, as to capture as much detail as the individual diamond grids reflecting light.

Notice the Light source....
The Glove box light on the left casts high white areas on the stock.
Notice the high white highlight on the top of the ajustment knob (A) and the direction of the shadow following line (B) It's slanting down towards the lower right of the photo.
Notice that there is no shadow between the space (C) coming from the adjustment knob towards the silncer.
For that to happen a light source would have to be coming from the lower left of the photo pointing to the upper right of the photo.
Also, if you look closely at this blurry picture on the grassy knoll.....
While searching my files, I ran across this photo showing that Armalite also issued the AR-7 stock as a FULL rifle stock. This version was not meant to come apart or store in the stock.
Before anyone starts to guess that this was simply cut down to resemble the other stock...
the length of the stock, to the rear up to the dip, is too short and the curve where the grip portion joins the stock is the wrong angle. Biggest difference is the one in the glove box has the turnkey thumbscrew that retains the receiver to the stock while this one does not.
This version retains the weapon by use of a restraining bolt under the barrel. A screw comes up through the underside of the stock into the bolt.
i must say Ed.. I am delighted with the amount of rare and unique .. photos and research you are sharing and showing.. realy fantastic stuff... i hope there is a full props book on the cards.. as i am sure it would be a best seller.. within the Bond collecting comminity
Got my Costa Mesa AR-7 with reddish brown stock today as seen in FRWL. Got one finally, due in large part to a heads up by the doyen of Bond props Ed "the big dog" Magianni. The stock needs a good polish and it's missing the front sight which is on order and should arrive this week, but it's the right AR-7 that I've wanted for years. Thanks Ed! To cool for school. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Enough talk here are the pictures along with my AR-7 Industries version.

I know the gentleman that has the OHMSS silencer. It definately has knurling on the tip and is the same one used on the PPK in publicity photos as well as the DBS tray. Hopefully he will see this thread and weigh in on it.
WOW! I must say that I am impressed with all of the kind help and advice that I have been receiving about the silencer and stock.
Ed, I will remake the silencer to your photos, excellent research and attention to detail, my friend!
I am also honoured that our Quartermaster Mick has taken the commission to build the stock for us. I know that it will be top shelf, and spot on!
I will study the light source, but in the car things may be different, and preliminary tests show that the DB5 light, and the original DBS glovebox lamp may be just fine to give it the same look.

I am so happy for old Sigi that he finally completed his dream car, yet it is not really back in film seen specs, with a different dash, steering wheel, number plates, mirrors, and the glovebox rifle. Oh well, he is happy, and driving his...which I cannot say for mine! (yet...)

Looking at your research on the silencer, I cannot see where the knurling has another 6 mm or so of smooth material to the end, as you photoshopped. From the DVD take-off, which both of us are using, I can't tell from that angle, and blurry photo, that the knurling is not on the end. Pls advise, and thanks!

One bit of advise I would like to throw in.. at this point
as its very relevant at this time with regards to studying
screen shots.. of DVD's and looking intensly at photos
for details....
sometimes you can .. look and study an image a bit too
much and your eyes start to deseive you .. and you start
seeing things. details that are not realy their.. and you
start mistaking patterns and colour details as something
that its not....
trust me this happens.... sometimes its good to take a little
break away from the study and get back to it.. with a fresh
approach.
ok the main reason why I can state that the Silencer in the glove
box of the DBS in OHMSS...... is the same one on Lazenbys silenced
PPK is because I have seen this gun closer up and it does have the
knurling pattern at the tip... only wish i saved the photos from years
back... i know and am 99% sure its the same silencer... lets remember
in studio and publicity shots.. details can be airbrushed out .. the
knurling may have been toned down in the photo for some ... dont ask me why .. same as the fact that they were going to airbrush out the long barrel of the Walther LP 53 pistol Connery hold in the FRWL promotional stills... glad they didnt.. such a coool gun and the long barrel gives the impact.. and makes it look very cool... i know it was shortened.. in some of the FRWL pannel posters... shame.. anyhoo.. back to the AR7 .... I think the Silencer Tom .. has created which I will be sending back to him.... with his finished Stock replica.. in due time..

his silencer replica is pretty spot on to be honest .. and when loooking at the film .. and lets face it we have to go by eye when examining a DVD and holding an item on a table in comaprison and getting the angle right.. his silencer matches fantasticaly to the scope and stock.... and its a high quality job .. with the machining.. will look great when blued... and the black finish applied..

I’ve been following ebay Bond prop auction since 2001. I think an ebay auction such as that would have attracted my attention. The only time I remember a PPK being up for auction (and claiming to be Lazenby’s stunt prop) was a blatant fake!!!
It was nothing more than a Denix replica from Spain. Some poor Bond fan paid a lot of money for a poor replica simply because the dealer SAID it was real.

I know you’re excited to post a reply, and I welcome it as it’s always good to have a different pair of eyes look at something as they can sometimes see something you overlook.
