Replica Bond Props

Hi Everyone,
I thought to start a new topic heading as I don't think everyone may know I've been posting photos of my replica props in the other topic:
http://www.ajb007.co.uk/topic/33452/the-ed-maggiani-collection/

I'll start this off by posting my latest replica...

I just completed a replica copy of the One & Only Club Security surveillance DVD disc as seen in Casino Royale.

The disc has the unique quality in that it is not only a replica of the prop but it will also play the surveillance footage that Bond sees when it is inserted into a DVD player.

ONLY those few seconds of film are on this disc. What you see is what is seen on screen..no more…no less.

If anyone is interested in more information you can contact me direct at: thefudds@aol.com

    Hi Guys,
Here is the prototype of the Moonraker Laser pistol.
Still needs a bit more work to make it screen accurate.
I’ve even installed a laser into the unit that is operated by the trigger.
    Enjoy this “in-progress” photo.

very very nice Ed. and very very cool.

you have done a great job there.. WELL DONE 10 / 10

the replica I am making I am thinking of a blue light at the front,
similar to the way it looks when one of Q's assistants are testing
it out and melts a dummy's head :)) my replica will be the UZI style
    lazer gun.

I think the Uzi style good guy lazer guns were much more cool looking
and detailed as opposed to the bad guy lazer gun / pistols

    Mick,
I agree...as far as Laser guns go...pretty bland indeed. If you look closely you'll see that some of them were not even modified. I suppose they never figured we'de be out here Freeze framing and examining the props frame-by-frame.

Looking forward to your UZI Laser Rifle

I am thinking of making the Black UZI style lazer gun with the chrome trim and the plane white version Both are the same gun but with different stylings and trim. Would be just as easy to make 2 as opposed to a one off replica, they would look cool lying beside each other in a glass cabinet display. :007)

the gun you made Ed, i was also thinking of making but converted from an old SEGA light gun and was going to use the same model and make the same gun but with the multiple Tubes at the front with chrome trim like the one Drax points at Bond at the end before being taken out by Bond's wrist Dart Gun.

as I am on the subject of moonraker. was analysing and doing some designs a few nights ago for a cigarette case Safe cracker replica with LED numbered code lighting.

and as I am thinking of making this a little ''OO7 Mini-Camera'' would be nice to go with it. I think the little black OO7 camera was a lighter supposedly. I was thinking of sourcing the correct lighter drilling a hole at the front and getting engraved the OO7 logo and then building it a little flash light like you would get on a car key light and rig that up to a side button so when pressed, would look as if a photo has been taken

Just added a few details to the rear to match the screen version.
An LED was added and lights when the trigger is pulled.

    Mick,
As mentioned in the first posting...this is a work in-progress.

I like to share these pics as the work progresses.

The 7 clear acylic tubes still need to be added to the front of the barrel. An idea I got for that was to use thick walled hollow rods and insert a small laser pointer inside the rear of each of the rods. It would be a simple matter to wire them all together so they would all turn on when the trigger is pulled.

The series of on/off buttons still need to be added to both sides as well as the chrome tape bands around the front barrel.

Ed I was not critisising or saying you had missed out any details or anything like that.

In fact I was under the impression that some of these black lazer gun / pistols have the multiple tubed fronts and some were just plain barrels like yours is just now.

I thought this, when flicking through bits of the film in DVD.

ONLY the "Hero" laser pistols were modified. The others were, as you stated, not modified.
In fact, the ones used by Drax's guards are simply resin copies of an unmodified gun.
If you look at the photo of the laser pistol I previously posted (see below) you'll see one of the original resin pistols.

This pistol had it's front barrel cut down possibly due to a bad casting. The plastic wire holders were glued on to replace the now missing buttons on either side. You can still see where the original buttons were glued on. A paper tape was glued on over the original side panel.

The panels on the real "Hero" prop were painted over. None looked quite like the photo I took at EON.

    Hi Guys,
    Another progress photo.
I thought to install an ULTRA bright LED in place of the red lasers as it more closely duplicates the look of the blue lasers in the film.

Almost done adding the buttons on the side…little more to go to finish.

    Hi Guys,
    Just about finished this replica.

I still want to do some interior work to make the Ultra-Bright LED even stronger by placing 1 LED inside each of the 7 acrylic rods (which still need to be added)

Here are both the "Stunt" version usually seen carried by Drax's guards and the "Hero" version used by Holly and Drax.

I can actually use this prop as a flashlight...and that's with only 1 LED...

    Here is my recent acquisition...

The Tranquilizer dartgun used to sedate Bond when he was in on the Laser table in the film GOLDFINGER.

The Airgun was modified by removing both the barrel band and the front sight and adding a larger barrel cover over the existing one.

    Hi guys,
Here is an update on the GOLDFINGER tranquilizer Pistol.
The barrel has a new larger cover installed over the existing barrel.
Both the barrel band and the front sight has been removed

    007-GF_TranqualizerGun1.jpg

A custom made liquid-filled capsule was made to simulate the tranquilizer dart.

More progress on the MOONWALKER laser pistol:

I replaced the chrome tape with polished aluminum strips on the one…still need to do the other.

    007-MR_Laser-D1.jpg

    007-MR_Laser-D3.jpg

Brass tubes were placed inside the barrel until I get the acrylic rods. Looks like it will work pretty good!!!

Hi Ed, hope you're well. I've been following the progress on this prop and I'm just fascinated how you've managed to piece this together just from information available 30 years later.

Just wanted to bring something to your attention. Just watched Moonraker on BluRay and I noticed a couple of things which may be a help to your prop. On the "hero" version there are no little round wheels in the back end of the pistol. Just viewed the scene where Drax picks up the weapon from one of his dead soldiers and there is a nice closeup showing that. Also there are two white square buttons visible on the other side of the pistol as well, matching the side with the two white buttons that you've already built.

On the stunt pistol that one of the guards pulls out to cover Bond earlier in the film, it's just a solid black gun with no attachments.

Hope this helps. Maybe other members with BluRay Moonraker can chime in as well. My Sony player does not have frame advance. I was lucky enough to freeze frame on that particular frame where there is a closeup of the pistol just before Drax picks it up.

Can't wait to see the final product. Best wishes!

    Hi Al,
Thank you!!! It’s turning out to be a fun project.

I’m aware of the dual buttons located bilaterally symmetrical on the prop. I originally only had 4 buttons available so I put 2 on each of the props in progress. I just bought the remaining ones and they will shortly be added.

I saw that the guard’s pistol (being held on Bond then Jaws) is simply the gun with no modifications. I do plan on doing that version as well…BUT…how boring!!!

The photos I’ve been posting are of the “Hero” versions in different stages of completion. I haven’t forgotten anything…I just haven’t done it yet…LOL

There seems to be at least 3 versions:

A - The “Hero” version which both Holly & Drax use. This version has the chrome bands, 7 acrylic rods, the dual buttons and “something” added to the rear sides and the back of the gun.

B – The unmodified stunt version – nothing was added

C – The modified stunt resin version. This is the one I photographed at EON. This version has evidence of the dual buttons as you can see the glue residue on the sides, nothing was added to the rear sides but there are “greeblies” added to the back of the gun. There is also no evidence of the acrylic rods ever being added.

An interesting note is that this version had the front cut down. Probably to remove a poor casting imperfection. The dual buttons are missing and someone glued plastic wire holders to the rear part sections. Paper was glued to the side panels to accent that part.

In regards to the round wheels on the "Hero" versions...There is SOMETHING attached to the rear portion of the blaster as evidenced by these photos. Unfortunately, these are only frame blowups of screen captures from the DVD.

Fine details are hard to make out (no matter HOW hard I squint) I had to use creative license on the rear parts.

    007-MR_Laser1.jpg

If anyone has a better screen capture they can either post or send me directly at thefudds@aol.com it would be greatly appreciated as it would improve the replication of this prop.

    Ed,

Seeing as AJB frowns on EON posting copywritten material I emailed you a few screen caps I took off the Moonraker BluRay. They're pretty clear actually so hopefully you'll get some mileage out of them.

Nice work Ed. I particularly like the Goldfinger tenquilizer gun. Been following your Moonraker lazer gun builds both here and over at the RPF. Not a big fan of the movie Moonraker, apart from the poster campaign artwork however your prop making prowess makes me want to add a Moonraker lazer gun to my collection. Absolutely fantastic!

Thanks to Al (SPECTREISLAND) for the great screen capture of the Laser Pistol.
Unfortunetly, it's still a biy unclear but the best I've seen so far of the prop.

I'm thinking the end piece looks like some sort of Fastex side release plastic buckle (see insert)
I realize that's NOT the one used but perhaps a variation of it. Anyone have any ideas or recognize that part used?
