Right this was somthing i picked up after a week of watching all the bond movies.
At the end of Casino Royale when Bond is looking through Vespers things, we can see him pick up the phone but beneath his hand there are also shells among her belongings. Could this be a possible refernce to Dr No. if looked at cast etc and found a connection:
Dr No (1962)
Honey Ryder: Shell Collector on Crab key played by Ursula Andress she also playes Vesper in the non canon spoof of Casino Royale.
I was just thinknig has anyone else notice this or is it just my lack of sleep?

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
Yeah, she picks up that shell in a deleted scene whilst they are enjoying freedom and each others company when her phone beeps. Later after her death and aboard the yacht in Venice, Bond was originally to be looking at pictures on his laptop of him and Vesper, he then throws the laptop into the canal and you see it sinking with the picture of the flickering as it sinks to the bottom. The shell was supposed to trigger his memory of those better times and her love, which leads him to check her phone. I was hoping that they would show those scenes in the special edition DVD as they shot the scenes, scored them and edited them into one of the final drafts before it was cut.
Asp9mm agrees with me
I never thought that this will happen one day! -{

Err, well, actually.. surely not, more thinking upon something similar if err, ahhh..... no. What you said was entirely wrong, you've obviously edited your post to fit in with the rightness of mine 8-)
Sounds a bit Titanic
Glad they edited it out. The last 20 mins of CR is by far the least interesting part of the film (excepting the coda at Lake Como) IMO
Never noticed the shells any way. Generally I just want the film to end by the time we get to Venice.
well that scene infact is on the german 2-Blu-Ray Set plus the scenes, when Vesper gets her Aston Martin Convertible and drives it around in Venice

When i first watched CR at the cinema, i felt the same . However, after a couple of watchings now, I have changed my mind and now enjoy that scene .
"Your contact?" "Not well."
At least we are useful for something
