Hello everyone this is my first post and I just wanted to introduce myself.
I've been lurking for ages and today I decided to take the plunge.
I'm an old school Bond fan having first seen 007 at the pictures when I was 9 or 10 years old and it was in 1967 or 68 the double feature of Goldfinger and Thunderball.
My user name comes from the 1960's board game Underwater Battle which my best mate back in the 60's had. He never liked being on Bonds side so he was always Largo and I ended up being 007.
My favourite Bond is Craig followed by Connery. On Her Majesties Secret Service is by far the best Bond Fleming novel and in time the film has grown on me. I have a lot of time for Moore mainly because in the UK the early 70's it was a depressing place to live, with strikes, powercuts and the three day week so being able to go to the pictures and see speedboats fly through the air, or buses lose their top deck was 2 hours of pure escapism.
My favourite film has to be Casino Royale followed by From Russia With Love. The worst has to be a View To A Kill, I absolutely hate the Beach Boys being played during the opening sequences. Likewise I hate soundwise what they did to the car stunt in The Man With The Golden Gun.
I wish someone at EON would re-edit QOS so I don't feel seasick when watching it.
I have read all the Fleming Bond novels and a couple of others notably the ones by Markham, Boyd and Deaver.
With the advent of the kindle I'm slowly buying all the electronic versions of the books with the intention of someday reading them all one after the other in sequence. I've already done that with the Fleming books but it is some time ago.
Other authors I enjoy reading are Frederick Forsyth, Jeffrey Deaver, and I love the factual military accounts of former Special Forces soldiers such as Andy McNab, Chris Ryan.
I'm a film buff and enjoy watching films in general, although depending what mood I'm in depends on whether it's a film with a complicated plot or Rambo. I've just gone through a phase of watching non fictional WW2 foreign language films such as Flame and Citroen, Soldier of Orange and Max Manus Man of War.
Music wise I love the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan and Bowie plus all the class rock bands of the late 60's and 70's namely Floyd, Zep, Purple, Rush and the British heavy metal bands like Maiden, Saxon and Priest plus the Scorpions.
Not much else I can add other than I'm looking forward to spending many a happy time here and hopefully contributing to the many interesting threads that are on here.
{[] Welcome UB007. -{ very nice Introduction. It's funny you mention reading all
The Bond books as That's what I'm doing at the moment, but rather than in published
Order, I'm reading them from Bond's time line.
As you point out Britain in the 70s was a very drab place so being able to pop along
To see Sir Roger as 007 was a great experience.
I look forward to reading your opinions on all things Bond. -{

I am Will Once, author and long time Bond fan. I lost my shaken not stirred virginity to Dr No and have been hooked even since. I even kept the faith in the dark years of Roger Moore looking less than sprightly.
My favourite Bond actor? That would have to be Sean Connery from Dr No to You Only Live Twice, then Pierce Brosnan and then Daniel Craig. Sorry, Roger.
