Finally stopped lurking on occasion and joined up!
I was born in '77 so I was firmly in the Moore era at that point, but my parents brought me up watching both Moore and Connery on home video (I didn't see Majesty's until I was 16 or 17). I still vaguely remember the "Battle of The Bonds" being talked about on tv when Octopussy and Never Say Never Again were released. Octopussy in fact is the first Bond I remember seeing in cinema. Going to the movies was always a big deal when I was little as we didn't go that often being a family of 7. Like many, I wanted to be James Bond when I grew up, but realized that real spies would wind up like all the other 00s, so I thought I would be an actor until my mother dissuaded me into getting a "real job".
My love of Bond was constant growing up, but it was difficult to stay engaged in the late 80's and early 90's without the internet and social media we have now. During this time, my friend got me my first 007 novel, Gardner's Nobody Lives Forever and I've since collected all the novels. Needless to say, Brosnan's announcement as Bond stoked the fires back in 1994 and I started to collect all the movies on VHS, then later laserdisc (and dvd, and blu-ray, and...). The Living Daylights was my first laser disc, followed by Licence To Kill, then Goldeneye, of which I watched the special features as much as the movie itself!
Goldeneye 64 is the reason I got my first ever video game system and I've gotten the majority of them since, with Nightfire, EoN, and Bloodstone being favourites. I LOVED the MWTGG multiplayer map on Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. Yes, I "beat" James Bond:WoE on mobile without wasting any money on it.
My collection has done its share of expanding and contracting, be it cars, figures, books, music, Pops, clothes, glasses, and watches. Finally got my grail when I picked up a ceramic Seamaster around Christmastime.
I was lucky enough to meet Berenice Marlohe at a movie premiere and got to chat with her after the film and have our photo taken. I was out for a walk last week and saw Pierce Brosnan riding his bike on the trail. Outside of exchanging waves, that was my only brush with an actor who's portrayed 007. As Pierce is the one I'd most want to meet, I'm happy to have had at least this fleeting moment in my life.
Favourite Bond? Craig. Movie? Casino Royale or Skyfall. It's easier to pick favourites for each actor than favourite out of 24. Even on ones I wasn't as fond of, like Moonraker, I got a new appreciation when I watched them with my kids last year. I'm currently up to Thunderball on rereading the books again. Not sure what my favourite is at the moment.
Think that covers the basics! Oh, I've written an article or two for thejamesbonddossier.com Probably should tackle a few more of those!
I joined on here back when I was a University fifteen years ago, I pop in and out now and then just to read some of the threads.
I joined in 2003 too. Are you the same member as the one on MI6 Community? I'm Dragonpol over there.
I am indeed good to see you mate, having a break from the other... I often pop in here to read up on threads, not posted much in recent years. I could not get on this site for a long period I think it was when they were changing the site some years back.

Ah, I see. Good to have you back on AJB! -{

started my interest in James Bond with the novels and the then onto the movies
you know that's not the usual path new Bond fans follow these days.
How did you happen to follow this books first > movies second sequence?
I didn't really have a huge interest in the movies to begin with. At the time the series wasn't on a steady path.
The early seventies Bond went through a bit of a uneven time. Especially after The Man With The Golden Gun. You have to remember, there was no internet to get info from. Small snippets in the press were about all we had. There was no news for months, sometimes years.
I read a few of the novels and really enjoyed them. It's a pity that they didn't stay more faithful to them. A little updating here and there, but Fleming was a wonderful writer.
So that's how I read the books first and then got into the film series. I like some of the newer films, but the best are the 60's and 70's entries for me. There have been some decent films after but the series has gone up and down a bit like a yo-yo for a while.
I still enjoy a new Bond film coming out, but they're not as consistent as they used to be.

Hello,
my name is Trempo.
I am a Bond fan since the 1980s.
My interest is more in the literary part. Have read all the novels.
But I also enjoy the movies.
And finally I found this forum.
Hello Thunderpussy,
thank you for the welcome.
Yes, I am very excited for the new book.
I think Trigger Mortis was great.
And it will be interesting to see how the beginning of 007 is.
Well, depression hits me again. I tried to ignore it throughout the day, but then something happened that threw me off the tracks completely.
Still trying to stay focussed and post a little, let me tell you that AJB is a place where I feel completely comfortable and welcomed.
I'm not an attention seeker even if it just may look that way, but I've learned to better open up and say what's going on than just keep everything inside me.
I have no idea what the next night will bring, if I get worse, I won't be able to be on the computer and then it may be a week or two before I am better.
Nobody expects me to function fully, not after only four months after my open heart surgery. So if I can't work, I can just stay at my place and rest. My job is secure, that is a great comfort let me tell you. Because what I can't lose is being an army officer. I'm too young to get retired. Even if it happened, I would be fully secure until I reach pension age.
But imagine it, what the hell would I do with my life, I'm only 43!
Anyway, thanks for letting me tell you. I'll try to stay on a little longer as it gets me off the bad thoughts. But if I can't I'll just drop of the air so to speak, that's why I post this message.
Yes, Jason, that is exactly what you are- and your sock puppet "Andi" as well.
It has not escaped our notice that you have been more than friends for some time. The double identity, which is against site rules of course, is the basic reason behind your ban but I would like to add that your shameless attempts to gather attention and sympathy with a groundless concoction of lies and deception, which was successful initially, is what has aroused bad feeling against you- and I speak not only for myself and the other mods here but for various members who have been in contact with us.
Lastly, this is a joint action with mods from other forums you won't be visiting again.

It was fun while it lasted, old boy.
Was it all a lie? Hope this doesn't add insult to injury but were they Mr Wint and Mr Kidding, if you catch my dorifto?
We'll all have to use our own judgement as to what exact percentage of what Jason/Andi told us was untrue, but it was a high percentage.
