Have a nice trip.
But you forgot the OP safari suit and clown outfits. Those would make the trip even more memorable
Bon voyage AS, have a great time.
I suppose it would be rude of me not to pop onto this thread and announce my return from a forced and unforeseen sabbatical. No Ill health or anything just busy with working away, lack of Internet access while away and busy with life in general. It's good to be back and it looks like I'm just in time as the bond 25 info to starts to pick up pace.
I see Higgins is still "on his break" does that mean he's allowed to sleep with other Bond forums? :007)
I've been away for a while - didn't mean to but became ridiculously busy. My book on the history of British horror movies came out and I'm now working on the follow up, about the Carry On films. Of all things, what brought me back was getting a new watch!
It's surprising the connections that come up. While researching the actress Imogen Hassall I found a screen test she did for Diamonds Are Forever with rugby player Roger Green as Bond (it was Green who was testing for Bond, IH was just getting a day's work playing Tiffany Case).
can I just say that this is my one thousandth post? for posterity's sake.
I didn't want to waste it on something random. or anything on-topic for that matter.

I just noticed that when reading one of your posts, caractacus potts. Congratulations on reaching this milestone. I always enjoy reading your literary Bond posts especially. -{

Hi guys I'm back ,arrived in Paphos by mothercair ( a joke in there the plane was full of babies) and we was collected by a nice Mercedes Benz , and wisked away to the Elysium hotel . Now the above picture of me all QOS up , ready to go to our first dinner . There was a nice chap playing the saxophone in the out door restaurant . Thought nothing of it as we was lead to our table , I did notice a few people look at me as I walked past , well you do get that feeling that every body knows what out fit you have on
As we returned to our table with our selection of food from the Greek buffet , the saxophonist starts to play the writings on the wall from Spectre , it was a excellent version by him , coincidence , I don't know
Long time Bond fan. The first movie I saw was Tomorrow Never Dies when I was five years old. As a child, from that moment on, I wore a suit whenever possible and told everyone I met "the names Bond, James Bond." And the rest is history. I was instantly intoxicated by the coolest spy ever.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, one of the best locations you could dream of for some awesome Bond adventures. Big Bear is only a couple of hours away for some snowboarding trips, cliff diving in La Jolla, plenty of winding roads for pushing my coupe to it's limits, some awesome shooting ranges to keep up my marksman skills, and the best weather you could ever ask for.
I am currently 24 years old, very little college education, and I work at a luxury four diamond resort as a Resort Supervisor specializing in Security. I like to think it's a type of career choice that Bond would have chosen if he hadn't joined the military. I get to meet interesting people everyday, get to wear fancy clothes, and it's half office work, half physical labor.
I met my Vesper when I was 18 years old and we just celebrated our first wedding anniversary on the 4th. She is my life and I would go anywhere and do anything for her.
I drive a 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a crisp gun metal grey paint job. My favorite music involves the latest hip hop, classic rock, and old standards (specifically Dean Martin). I have a beloved watch collection of various divers that are pretty much just knock-off Rolexes, I would never pay more than $500 for a watch. I like to think of myself as a Bond on a Budget (might do a thread on that, I've put a lot of thought into the subject, PLEASE let me know if there is already a thread on the topic).
I've seen every Bond film several times and own the collection on blu ray. Currently making my way through the original novels which I've never done before and I've just started From Russia With Love.
Favorite Movies:
1) Thunderball
2) Skyfall
3) License to Kill
4) Goldeneye
5) Dr. No? (fifth place is reserved for whatever mood I'm in at the current time).
Favorite Bond:
1) Connery
2) Craig
3) Dalton
Favorite Novel (so far):
It's a tie between Live and Let Die or Moonraker. LALD has some of the best action and best scenery and suspense. Where as Moonraker is almost the perfect Bond adventure, perfect bad guy, great female lead, awesome action scenes and Bond is absolutely pushed to his limits, not to mention plenty of material on his cars.
I'm not sure how much I'll post here but we'll see how it goes. I'm mostly just excited to finally talk with some folks who love Bond as much as I do.
Very excited to get to know some of who and have some awesome conversations. Godspeed.

Hello AJS, try typing "Budget" into the search function above and see what you can find. Welcome to AJB, by the way.
I think he's kept busy on that large Scottish estate of his.
With Castle Barbel nestled in the highlands surrounded in
Heather and wild stags roaming the fields. As the eight
Hundred year old distillery of that fine old single malt whisky
" Barbel's old peculiar " which reaches the parts, that are really
Inappropriate to reach !
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I would imagine that Barbel's on his Caribbean Island at this time of year. He's probably flown in Paul McCartney, Keith Richards and Sir Elton for a jam session and a few shepherd's pies. That's usually where you find him in June (before the onset of hurricane season).
Nice to know you've been mssing me, guys. Bride of Barbel has been a bit unwell recently, which has been keeping me busy. The main other news is that I just treated myself to a nice Fender Jazz bass...
...which has also been keeping me busy- I've been playing double bass for years now, and am now re-familiarising myself with playing a fretted instrument.
Please don't fret Barbel, I'm sure you'll master it soon!
Please give our best to Bride of Barbel for a speedy recovery. In fact, in her honour - and in no way self-serving - I'm going to head over to SABS now against my own wishes to selflessly raise a glass to her health!
Best wishes to Mrs Barbel ,a speedy recovery is sent to her from all the guys ,and a very warm welcome to our new member AJS, and nice guitar there Barbel , who is your bass hero , mine is John McVie
Thanks, as, she's feeling a bit better now- and my bass hero is the surprisingly underrated (unbelievably, he IS underrated) Paul McCartney. I know it's a strange thing to say about the world's most famous and most successful bass player but it is true. Most people will comment on his celebrity, his vegetarianism, etc, but few comment on his prodigious talents. Of course he is excellent at many instruments (piano on LALD, for a Bond example, and lead guitar on many famous songs (eg Ticket To Ride), drums on a good few- Band On The Run, Back In The USSR) and his composing abilities surely need no comment but nowadays few appreciate how good a bass player he really is.
I saw Macca live in concert a few years ago. I thought it would be a nostalgic evening with some of my Beatles faves, a few Wings hits - hopefully including LALD - and a bunch of songs I'd never heard before. Instead, it was one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Almost three hours non-stop. All the hits you could ever hope for, a pipe band on stage for Mull of Kintyre and fireworks for LALD. Considering his age, it was a phenomenal show. There's lots of younger performers who could learn from that effort and commitment.
I hear Barbel does 6-hour sets without a single break.
