Okay - Mick has asked me to delete this thread - I'll lock it for now and see how he feels later. Some, or all, posts after Mick's opening post could go.
If anybody has anything to say or add - please PM me. I don't want to lose anybody else from AJB just yet.
Thank you.

'A letter from Michaels Grandfather':-
Dear SIR
I have just logged on to your AJBOO7 site to view any good or bad reviews
On the Christmas Golden Gun saga to find it’s now been taken off the site
Possibly due to good banter turned bad by both sides and I feel a bit
Responsible, as I am Michael Grandfather and the co maker of the GG
My name is Kenny and I would be grateful if you would allow me
To sum up some of the advents leading to Michaels Christmas present to
The AJBOO7 site. It started about March last year that he told me about a
New company who were bringing out a new model of the golden gun and
This replica was going to be the ultimate collector’s replica, better than all
The previous ones, when I asked him what he thought it would do better than
The others he guessed the lighter might open and you would load the golden
Bullet and all the other items fit together to make the elusion of the golden gun
And was hoping he would be able to afford one when they came on sale
He thought they would hold off the sale till Christmas season to coincide with
The sales and as a tribute to when the film was first screened.
I then suggested why don’t we make one, but make it believable with all the
Items being able to work as the elusion in the film. As we all know you
Could not make a gun from these items, I believe the prop makers needed
Three different models to create the elusion and these guys are good
From the start. This was only going to be a one off for Michael’s collection only
And not to compete with any other models in shape or form. Our design
Came from THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN 1974 - art
Work poster showing the items to make the gun which also gave us the
Dimensions for the lighter pen and cigarette case. Michael and myself searched the
Internet, car boot sales and auction houses to try and find the original
Items. Michael managed to get a waterman pen and a couple of old
Colibre lighters and these didn’t match the sizes we required. So we had
Fabricate the entire Gun and items from brass bar and 2mm thick sheet all
Parts are hand made with hand tools, hacksaws, files, pistol drill and hand
Held belt sander. A lot of work; I am sure you guys that make these
Replica items for a hobby will appreciate the work. But I need to get back to the
start and why I decided to write this letter in the first place
Michaels a young man now and has been an ardent Bond collector since a
Young boy and as you know makes a lot of Bond related props and does
Quality work. He has always had this dream of owning these prized
Replicas and props seen in the films, but since we started to make our own
Version of the Golden Gun and as the work progressed and things started to
Come together I think he started to believe this would be The best GG ever
Made and I think when he’s been e mailing or phoning some Members of this
Website he’s been hyping the GG up a bit too much and when he showed it, It
Wasn’t to everybody’s taste and every body has a right to their own opinion
He’s not very good at taking criticism but what is worst he can’t decide what’s
Criticism and what’s good intentional advice and that’s when the good banter
Turned bad. It’s too bad that’s it’s turned out this way. He tried to keep his promise
To put his gun on show but he made the mistake of showing it before it was
Completely finished. It still needs a final polishing some detail work and finally
The magic Gold plating then I think he should show it again but not as a still, but as a
Video. One of your members showed their SD Gun being assembled that was much
More impressive although I thought that the way Michael presented his much
Awaited Merry Christmas the GG was a very good effort but then I’m his
Grandfather.
There are a few issues I would like to share with some of your members if I may.
I know their advice was well meant for Michaels benefit and I’m sure he now knows
That. However the GG is a toy that gives the same elusions as the one in the movie
Did. It was designed to fire the match heads of BBQ long matches which are now
Unavailable its now only safety matches you can buy and they don’t work, we maybe
Get it working for the video and for those concerned the shot is fired in the barrel which
Is made from an old tool of mines, an old auto centre punch and made from a very tough
Material; Beryllium Bronze used in hammers and Chisels for working in spark free
Explosive environment. Also the lighter cant be in the gun when it’s fired; but now I’m just
Wasting the elusion. However I don’t think now, that Michael will be saving up for the new
Issue of the Golden Gun as his wont have a limited edition No 999 or a Scaramanga signature
But he will have a big boy toy to entertain his Friends with. Many thanks for letting me
Have my say, Well best wishes to one and all and I hope Michael is big enough to make up and
Come back to the fold. P.S. He and I might fall out, when he finds out I wrote this
Best Regards. Kenny
