Recently ran across this interesting piece of artwork by Walter Popp featured in a 1962 issue of STAG - a mens Adventure magazine of the era.

The Main photo shows Bond and Honey facing off with the "Dragon" of Crab Key

The article is entitled: James Bond's desperate, tantalizing adventure
NUDE GIRL OF NIGHTMARE KEY

When he cracked the Caribbean island's Iron Curtain, he found a beautiful Blond beachcomber babbling about Dragons and a mad Chinese ready to destroy the Western world---for $20,000.000.

Closeups of the illustrations are:

Now wait a minute. I'm old enough to remember Stag and trying to sneak it out of a liquor store. ;% A men's adventure magazine? Um, I guess it depends on your definition of adventure! :D In any case, interesting artwork and fun to see.

Found another interesting illustration…this time from another Men’s adventure magazine from 1966 called MALE.

The illustration is by Gil Cohen.

This time, however, it’s NOT Bond but Detective William Clive who, apparently, meets the same type of villians and gets himself into similar situations that the article exclaims “Is he the real James Bond?”

While not technically a Bond illustration…there are obvious tributes.

Detective Clive is strapped down to the pool table, as was Bond to the Laser table.
That guy to the left is an obvious tribute to Goldfinger as is his Chinese “Man-Servant”
Chopping wood off to the side.

    Ed,

I love these types of illustrations. Playboy did a great many of them too, but I love the the ones from the older, out of print, and more obscure magazines. They had great artwork. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it's great to be able to see these types of images. I'm with DG - Playboy did some lovely illustrations in their time - er, so I'm told :))

    Thanks for sharing.

This is all very interesting - thanks for uploading all of this on here. I think Stag Magazine also did a salacious version of TSWLM.
