But hey, if some of us want the all blue, I think we could just add it to the order, and if one day we know for sure it's the all blue, well they'll be rich dudes
If you can't trust a Swiss banker, what's the world come to?
To those of you that ordered your ties via Raffaello... do any of the current ones correspond to QoS ties? If so, what are the Raffaello reference numbers, as they don't specify the TF ref?
I'm pretty sure they're all out, but it's worth a try given the price... Thanks, guys.
The PTS tie was coded by Raffaello as ; toftie 10075.
I also have the Kasan tie from them, but I am not sure if I still have the plastic sleeve that the code was on. I will have a dig around and get back to you.
DBS; I have been looking at the ' fashion' sites and the colour midnight seems to be agreed as very dark blue.
Looking at the shots of D/C filming outside the London apartment on justjared.com...well, are we sure that his suit and topcoat are black?...because to me it looks very dark blue! If you look at the crew members that are around him, many are wearing black jackets, and in comparison D/C's outfit is lighter.
The effect can be seen on the same site in shots of Bond and Vesper as they walk to and then get in the taxi in Montenegro...Vespers jacket is black and it is plain to see that Bond's trenchcoat is navy.
I may be wrong, but have a look if you get a minute...because if the suit and topcoat are very dark blue..then its possible that you have the right tie.
Of course its all a matter of very fine degrees anyway.
I think there's a crazy guy in the U.S. (maybe California) who, thanks to ajb and this thread, might have unknowingly driven up the price of their ties by buying a number in the past week. I dunno, just a guess.
I just received my tie from Raffaello this afternoon. It arrived at work, and I held my breath as I opened the bag. I was slightly let down to see that, while it appeared to be the London tie pattern, it wasn't the right colors. I didn't have my costume swatch with me at work, so I had to wait until I got home tonight to compare the two.
When I got home, I once again held my breath as I lay the costume card down on top of my tie. And to my pleasant surprise, they were a spot-on match! Indeed, it is the London tie - no question about it. RAND, you were right in your earlier post. Here's a side by side comparison -
And a close-up -
I don't know if Raffaello gets their color descriptions direct from each tie maker, but Midnight/Silver would initially seem like an incorrect combination, but as you can see, it does match. We all know that Tom Ford and Louise Frogley love this dark blue color as they chose it for the Greene Party suit, among other items. It's so close to black that it's almost indistinguishable. Another bit of good news is that there was a style number on the bag provided with the tie - it's TFD28 1TK A ITA 082.

nice story dbs, are they sold out of the London tie too ?

Although all this Raffaello buying has gone off track from the original thread/idea of redsleighdown,s, at least it looks like we have nailed down three tie numbers for sure; London, Kazan and PTS...at least now everyone can put their orders in with more confidence in what Tom Ford will be delivering.
BTW. redsleighdown, this is a great idea..thanks for all the hard work you are doing.
I love Italy! Having said that, why do I have a bad feeling about the TF Milan store pursuing this project? Absolutely no disrespect intended toward you reds, for all of your efforts and hard work on our behalf.

DBS, congrats you lucky dog! Now, I think you might be somewhere nearby. May I ask, does your residence have an alarm? :v

These are the TF style numbers I've seen confirmed so far -
Pre-Title Sequence tie - TFB61 1TF B ITA 081
London Tie - TFD28 1TK A ITA 082
Bolivia Tie - TFB65 B (partial from swatch)
Greene Planet Party tie - TFB73 1TK C ITA 081
Kazan, Russia Tie - TFC15 1TK C ITA 082
I believe this is where we stand with the numbers. RSD, please let us know if this info looks correct. I'll echo RAND's comment - thanks for spearheading these orders!
DBS; I got the black Kazan tie plus the dark brown version from Raffaello a few weeks ago...check my post..Kazan tie number for the correct T/F codes.
Just dug out the plastic sleeves to save you the job...and the numbers for the two different Kazan ties I own are; Black TFC15 1TK C ITA 082
Brown; TFC15 B ITA 082
The brown tie is SO much like the black one..it is only when you hold it to the light or set it against
something brown that you can tell its true colour.........Not to confuse matters but, Bond is wearing brown gloves in the Kazan apartment!!!!
No...I'm sure its the black and silver version that is the correct one...I think!!
BTW.
I managed to get hold of the lead that I need to post pictures from my camera today.. so with the help of my kid's... I WILL post pictures soon.
Thanks, RAND. I do remember that post now, under 'Kasan,' as I remember. That's why it didn't show up in my previous search.
**I've updated my last post to include this style number as well.
I know you're going to hate me for saying this too, but in my opinion, I think that the Kazan tie may be 'midnight' as well. (RAND, you might be with me here, after reading your post above regarding the colors of selected clothing in the film). Now I'm not saying that those with a supposed 'black' tie don't have the correct version - just that it might not be true 'black.' Sure it may look black without a doubt compared to other black items you own, but in Tom Ford's world, black may be dark blue.
Take the Greene Planet Party suit for example - it looks black to me and the fabric looks black. But it's been confirmed that it was actually a very dark blue. Many have noted that the Kazan tie has a richness and a depth to it - this might be attributable to the careful selection of colors and fabrics in this midnight tone. I doubt that Tom Ford would just select 'black' as any color for his contributions to the film. His attention to the smallest of details and his expensive tastes in fabrics is well known. Of course, this is just my two cents, and everyone here might want to wrap their bar of soap in a towel and beat me. Just thinking out loud.
I believe it was not Tom Ford who designed the clothes.
I still believe it's black (Kazan), but you're right it could be something else. Though, the post-prod influence may vary from scene to scene to have a certain global look, so the other scenes might not be a good reference. But really, I don't know.
BTW you don't need the whole number of the tie, but the letter B is important.
If you can't trust a Swiss banker, what's the world come to?

Be sure to get a TF tie box for every tie
it makes a huge difference
I'd have thought with a bespoke tie a TF box was guaranteed.
But lets get the ties sorted before we worry.
But hey, if some of us want the all blue, I think we could just add it to the order, and if one day we know for sure it's the all blue, well they'll be rich dudes

10075 is not available anymore, though. Dammit.
BTW, they were 114$ and now they are 145$, all of the Tom Ford ties.
HOLY COW! They DID just raise their prices! Sneaky little buggers! $30 more per tie!
Well, it's still a good deal compared to the full retail price.
Kind regards,
Craig

Chances are that now that we got the good ones, they won't sell as well and they might drop the prices again

I bought 3 non-related but they made an error - I'll have to ship them back and hope that they have the one I bought.

Yes, they only had the one in stock. I've seen a London tie in brown still available though.
